My Rybka v2.blah found it after less than a minute.
Still pretty awesome though.
Well my processor is somewhat old but still, engines on my PC usually find the right moves pretty quick.
Wow! I found it in ~2 minutes (without the aid of an engine). Maybe I should create a Fezzik 1.0 computer? It'd be guaranteed to stink at bullet chess, need to be refilled with coffee or hot tea regularly, and be taken for walks at least once a day.
Otherwise, it'd be great!
That is, if you want it to solve random problems but be clueless about the latest lines of the Petrov, botch the occasional won endgame and play really fishy without prior warning.
it's probably a good enough engine to improve my game.
I took this puzzle (which I find to be very good) from the steps method :
After I solved the puzzle I entered the position in Fritz using the Rybka 2.3.2a engine to see what moves it came up with and it didn't find the right move even after I let it run for like 3 minutes.
I also tried the Fritz 8 engine and The King 3.5 (Chessmaster), they didn't find it either, actually all three engines came up with the same move: 1.Qf3.
The "Solve for mate" option of Chessmaster did find it though.
