 The proficiency of both players would come into question for the less subtle reason that they managed to play almost a whole game with a black bishop starting on the wrong square.

In fact, it seems more likely that both players are going the other way, in which case we are the ones cheating when solving that.

 A queen is worth 9 points. A knight is worth 3. But checkmate is worth about 24 points, so it is worth it.
