It is an option. Click the settings icon and change it

How do you change it back to. The old I’ve looked at. Settings done. It and it stays with the new version

While in the feature there should be a setting icon 
at the top. That's where you change it.
On Android it's also under Settings > Puzzles
The setting doesn’t work. The new puzzle setup sucks!!!

Have you tried it in both places?
If so, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app
