Some of my best puzzles, in my opinion, must come from my Rebuild-it puzzles series (https://www.chess.com/forum/view/more-puzzles/rebuild-it-puzzles), when I was learning to make puzzles. You are presented with a position and you must place the given pieces to achieve the task, to come up with a resulting position. You must account for retrograde analysis (the solution isn't valid if it doesn't respect it). Here is an example of such puzzles I made a while ago (I have not done a new one in ages):

Resulting position: White to play and White is checkmated by Black.
