Puzzle 19 (CheckMate)

even if there is no move that black can do without hurting his position, that still doesn't mean that white has to move Rh1. why not Rh3 or Na8? what i'm trying to say is that if you are correct (i chose not to check every possible move for black) this still doesn't make a puzzle per se since all you are looking for is a random other move forcing black to play his pawn to c3, and there seems to be multiple moves which fit this criteria.

This was posted a long time ago with the name 'organ pipes.' I don't know if that was given as a title for the original publication of the puzzle, but I think that is an awesome name. If there are other puzzles that are in some way meant to represent objects or ideas outside of chess, I would like to see them.

yeah i don't know the original name of this or if it had one,but what i can say is, that it's a puzzle by Taverner, done in 1889.

The whole point of a puzzle is to solve it according to its rules. Mate in 2, means mate in two. It makes you think of the other possibilities. mate in 2 means mate in 2.

Your comments are very incorrect, and the fact that you were to lazy to check makes you even more wrong.
lol yes i worked it out and you are correct. however i must disagree that me being TOO lazy (note the spelling for the future) does not make me more wrong. thanks for the chuckle ;)

This puzzle has already been posted with all the different variations in the move list!!
