"Blind" Puzzle

Sort:

This puzzle is set up as a “Blind” puzzle…I am interested in training for (in a way) blindfold chess. I am not sure if this kind of training can help, although I don’t think it can hurt. My suggestion is to actually first try to solve to puzzle blind (not looking at the diagram or placing the pieces on a board), by visualizing the pieces on their squares. If you are having a difficult time visualizing the pieces, I have a link below that will take you to a diagram of the puzzle.

~~~BLACK to MOVE...
Position for each side...
White: Kh1, Qe4, Rb1, Rf1, pawnsd3, g2, h3
Black: Kb8, Qb2, Rh8, Bb7, Bd6, pawns - a7, c5
Material is even
Description: First evaluate the position and think which side is better; White just played Rb1…it is Black to move.
For those that cannot visualize, you can find a diagram here: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/more-puzzles/diagram-for-blind-puzzle
*This puzzle was inspired by a game I played where the ending was very similar, although the continuation I played was different and actually was longer. I modified the puzzle so that there's not as many pawns on the board so it will be a little easier to visualize. Let me know what you think of the idea of a "blind" puzzle and what you think of the puzzle itself, thanks!
