But our stats are very different. i did much more puzzles and play very fast and you have more accuracy on your win rate.

It's very interesting & I was thinking the same thing! It's whatever works best for the particular person. We are totally different styles yet both did very long streaks. Now I am just interested in finding out the backstories of the puzzles I completed and they seem to be in the lessons department. Some are situations from famous games. I'm someone who wants to discover all sides of chess. All the secrets. It always bothered me that the puzzles didn't provide more information. Perhaps it's meant to first do all the lessons and then puzzles. But who is wise enough to do that? 😅 People don't usually have that kind of patience to sit trough so many lessons before they can do the more entertaining stuff - puzzles. It's all backwards now. But an experience nevertheless.

i am fascinated in puzzles that even modern computer engnies can’t solve. I also created some of those. And every puzzle that I solve, results in points from this new puzzle mode. i have over 6.000.000 (6 Mio). I also like to solve puzzles as fast as possible, even if i can’t find the solution in under like 1 or 2 seconds.

U totally deserve the top spot! U are the official puzzles freak 😁 In the coolest way possible! Especially the fact that you also make puzzles. I'm happily bubbling under such dedication 😊 What I was trying to achieve was completely opposite: absolute patience to go through all possible options before answering. Because I usually rush too much and lack patience so it was a personal challenge.

But i have to say, i use a trick. you might have noticed, that my rating goes up and down a lot. i lose rating until i literally have 0 elo and then i try to get as far as possible. And after every solved puzzle i get 10 more points for every solved puzzle until i get like 2000 or even 3000+ points for every puzzle.

yes, your rating varies 1-2000

I realize I am too attached to my puzzles elo to try anything like that. Attachments can be kind of silly. Sounds really wild & courageous to let your elo drop. One must be confident in getting it all back to attempt such. I'm fascinated how your brain works! It's like you are doing a science experiment with puzzles.

yeah, i do everything on this website… well i am not a achievement hunter, but i hunt friends, puzzle points, views and more. I almost have 1000 games in my game library. So i basically do everything else.

Zero, complete waste of time and does nothing for practical chess improvement.

The cynic has entered the building. I don't blame you. I don't necessarily think that the tiers system is particularly helpful causing dopamine addiction with the points upon points thing. I switched that off. Puzzles can be helpful or a distraction depending on how you use them. Basically puzzles are still situations from real games so they are good to analyze. With rushing one only remembers the situations from repetition. With studying the situations in depth real learning can be achieved. I agree that the puzzles in themselves do not provide enough depth, doing lessons should go hand in hand with the puzzles. First the lesson then the puzzle. That would be the ideal system.

No, i mean if i see mate in 3, i play mate in 3. theres nothing to be studied for these low rated puzzles.

That's why there's the lessons department. Far more educational.

I did all the lessons. I have time, interest and a membership - I use it.

Ein u have done 137 lessons. Not all of them. Check the leaderboard on lessons. U are nowhere near the top. JosephReidzNL is nr.1 and has 4973 lesson points. U have probably just done the basics and advanced. I just went over 100 lessons yesterday so I am behind u on them, but doing those daily. I am currently in the Play like Bobby Fischer department. It's been very interesting featuring the game of the century example. I have recognized bits of the famous games used in puzzles section. I wouldn't exactly call those bits something that you can learn nothing about... Watch out if Joseph decides to try to get on top of the best puzzle streak list, he has highest puzzles elo! We have not seen a real battle for the best streak king/queen position, that would be fun to see. After all Joseph has gotten over 1000 in puzzle rush at one point. If he seriously tries he will get nr.1 spot easily. If I was you I wouldn't completely dismiss the educational value of doing puzzles unless you want a battle - perhaps you do. U are nr.1 right now, enjoy it while it lasts!

I did all Lessons before this Update, so i don’t know and i won’t do them again. Of course there is always someone better. His peak Rating is really impressive, but again, i don’t study these puzzles, because they are literally Mate in 3 or some easy tactics. I am currently on a 400 Puzzle Winning Streak and i will break my record - I don’t care what he does, although i am fascinated by what he achieved.

Avatar of DareTower
Well keep on breaking your own records until Joseph wakes up from his puzzle record making nap 😂 Perhaps you have not explored all that the lessons have to offer, check them out ✌️ And sorry for getting all trash talky on u, it's a bad habit I know 😜 Hopefully it just motivates!
