I believe this is an Anderson Zukertort training game, which may or may not have been actually played. Either way, it is THE example of a diversion sacrifice used to exploit a back rank. This is a key position EVERY player must know. These are the fundamentals that pull the curtain off of the chessic OZ, and reveal to the common player how to tap into some of that masterly magic.
Chessroshi: According to my notes ... it was Edwin Adams and Carlos Torre. Edwin Adams was indeed his trainer, and you are correct, it is widely believed that this was not a real game but a composition. I have read many theories on this game, that it was a composition that Adams shared with Torre, and over time it was mistakenly taken as a game between them. Another theory is that they were analyzing a training game they had played and Adams came up with this.
Whatever it is... it is a stunning combination.. probably not played in a real game... but we may never know. The whole game is included below.
