A Final Tribute To Chess.com’s Most Mysterious and Terrifying Robot, Mittens.

Every month or so, Chess.com adds a special series of robots that have a sort of theme. Last month, we were blessed (and cursed) to receive the cat series. Among the kittens, Mittens the small ginger cat was the creepiest and most powerful. In short, she was the most perfect opponent for all those introverts who like streaming chess online. Yes, you Gotham! The cat series, however, has been removed and replaced by some dumb robots. In memory of the cutest, most evil and viral kitten, I give this final tribute. You can add your tributes using comments. Enjoy!

I really miss Mittens. I'm only around 1300 elo and could never beat her, but it was educational to try. Also, the Mittens phenomenon, with the games against Grandmasters, Stockfish, and M3GAN, was a lot of fun and helped to further promote the popularity of chess. I have proposed, over in the Site Feedback forum, that Mittens be added as a permanent personality bot.

You are so right! We should do something, actually try to bring back Mittens. Maybe start a campaign? I dunno. It seems kind a crazy but Mittens was kind of like the Chess overlord, and she beat all those GMs. Shows that they’re not the only good players. Miss you Mits.

Aww. Come on, all cats are cool but not all cats are awesome but not all cats are chess prodigies.
