History is the study of evens and people; historiography is the study of historical writings but the two of them often intermixed, great question!

Who studies the odds?

Mostly the bookies in Vegas.

Oh you mean the Mob? That makes sense.

I thought we would be talking about actual history, like wars, famous people, and other events. We are leaving out the fake stuff like browser history, the moon landing, and Patton being assassinated.*

*Disclaimer: I do not officially believe or disbelieve any of the above events.

Moon landing...? You don’t believe it? We have footage of it🤨

I do believe in the moon landing. I should have put a disclaimer or something...

Asfor the OP's original mention of Napoleon being "average height for his time", that cannot be correct. After all, he was nicknamed "the littke corporal" at the time (for his uncanny ability to be all over the battlefield like a noncom), and there for if he were truly taller than others of the time then they would not be calling HIM "little"...the truth is, Napoleon was shorter than many of the time...

wizardKM

@AreHughDowdingMe is correct----we should really be talking about REAL history here, not conspiracy theory history...

How about we start with the Punic Wars between Rome and Carthage in the 200s BC, which historians have determined are analogous with the Cold War situation between the United States and the Soviet Union...my old college profesdor once remarked of that Cold War time, "never has the world been so divided since the time of Rome and Carthage"...

I don't believe there is any record of anyone actually measuring Napoleon's height or just what scale they may have used. I suggest you go to the French Military Museum in Paris at the Hotel des Invalides. You can stand next a mannequin (it's in a glass display case so you can't bring in a tape measure to get an exact measurement) wearing one of Napoleon's uniforms and judge for yourself. My opinion--he was shorter than the 5'6 or 7" mentioned above.

Nobody look up what doctors did to Napoleon after he died, I an actually serious, it still haunts me. Why do you guys think conquerors keep invading Ruusia in the winter? I thought they had more common sense.

its hard to tell what is a joke and what is a conspiracy theory today

Thousands of years of evolution: does amazing things

Humans: Yeah but do birds really exist?

Evolution: Am I a joke to you?

But I literally put a disclaimer.

What about George S. Patton Jr's assassination? Do you think he was, or was it just an accident? He was hit by a military truck on his way to go hunting, but the driver was never prosecuted, and all files of the accident, and who was involved, have disappeared.

AreHughDowdingMe

I just found a great book series by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard- it includes Killing Patton, Killing Lincoln, and other narrative nonfiction books. They are good and I suggest you read them.

Wits-end

Clint Black had a good one called Killin’ Time.

SheKnights

How about killing someone in an open vehicle during a celebration and starting WW1?

Nimzowitsch

The person they killed was part of a government that was Occupying the land unjustly.
