I made an alternative to Chess called Monsiv.

Monsiv is like a simplified, faster version of Chess, but it still captures the essence of what makes Chess fun.
You win if you move any piece to the other side or capture the opponents skull.
You can also swap adjacent pieces, which allows for tactical surprises and some real deep strategy.
