As we all(Hopefully)know, the world is in a total energy crisis.I won't talk about this specifically as I don't want to get muted. The thing is, there is something we CAN do about it.I have created a club that is not about chess or anything. The club is about something specific, very overshadowed, and ignored, that can change energy production for ever. After reading this, you will understand how and why:

The Thorium Revolution — Quick Summary:
Thorium is a cheap, safe, and super-efficient energy source that’s far better than uranium. It powers molten salt reactors (MSRs) that produce less waste, run safer, and could revolutionize clean energy. The technology exists but is ignored due to politics and fossil fuel interests. Supporting thorium could change the future of energy.

Detailed Facts About Thorium and MSRs:

What is Thorium?
Thorium is a naturally occurring radioactive element, about three times more abundant than uranium in the Earth’s crust. It can be used as nuclear fuel in specially designed reactors.
How Does a Thorium Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) Work?
In an MSR, thorium is dissolved in molten salt which acts as both fuel and coolant. The reactor breeds uranium-233 from thorium, which then fissions to release energy. The molten salt keeps the reactor safe by operating at low pressure and high temperature.
Advantages Over Traditional Reactors:
Safer design with low risk of meltdown
Produces significantly less long-lived radioactive waste
More abundant fuel supply
Can reuse waste products as fuel
Operates efficiently at atmospheric pressure
Environmental Benefits:
Thorium MSRs emit no greenhouse gases during operation and produce minimal toxic waste compared to fossil fuels and traditional nuclear reactors.
Cost Factors:
Though initial development costs exist, thorium fuel is cheap and plentiful. MSRs are simpler and safer, potentially reducing construction and operating costs.
Key Numbers and Stats:
Thorium is about 3x more abundant than uranium in the Earth’s crust.
MSRs can reduce nuclear waste volume by up to 90% compared to uranium reactors.
Thorium reactors operate at about 700°C at atmospheric pressure, unlike conventional reactors at high pressure.
Estimated fuel cost per kWh for thorium is about 1/10th that of uranium fuel.
The global thorium reserves are estimated at over 6 million tons, enough to power the world for centuries.
Existing thorium MSR designs aim for an operational lifespan of 40+ years with low maintenance.
Estimated construction cost for MSRs could be 20-30% lower than traditional reactors due to simpler design.

The aim of the club is to draw attention to thorium, an incredibly overlooked resource. It can change energy production for ever.If you want to join, just submit a request(This is a private club, just to be safe). The drawing attention part includes other platforms, discord or reddit for example.

Cool, this will draw in all of the keyboard scientists to solve the world's problems!

Personally I think thorium reactors are a huge step towards clean energy for the world, but perhaps not practical enough to become the dominant method for another decade or so. Coal is still plentiful and abundant

Hot_Rash

True, but thorium is cheap anyway

I wish I could help but I'm not a scientist phenomenon.

Doesnt matter.Just spreading the word will help, a lot

I'm surprised none of the other 'usual suspects' are here...

Just curious, what percent of the air is carbon dioxide, and also just curious why was it so hot in the middle ages?

Hot_Rash

its pretty low compared to other gases, if it wasnt we would choke to death. Also, thats related to earth's tilt

Now you can join instantly instead of a request!

Anyone? This is serious.

Okk

Hot_Rash

You gonna join or..?

Ninjaroid

I joined already.

Hot_Rash

Oh wait it didn't update
