Yes I just have a little Alcatel - One - Touch phone that works just fine. I mainly like to have it with me in my vehicles in case of mechanical failure. When I'm at home I prefer my landline, simple but reliable.

love u guys.  for once i'm the high tech user.

as much as i have traveled and moved, the so-called smartphone has been great. when i traded in my last vehicle, there were a ton of maps in the glove box. now, no need. grocery lists? no more paper and pen. accurate weather forecast at any time (if you're on the course for four hours, thing can change). i can check my email from anywhere and respond instantly. when i was in the trades, it eliminated the need for a calculator and a lot of paperwork. i could also order items right now.

in other words, there are advantages.

Clearly there are advantages to current technology, as you enumerate above.  But some of us "lazy-arses" would rather answer our phones verbally, not type with our thumbs, and restrict our social media existence to only this crazy-arse chess site.  Instead of learning to use new software, I often feel like the software is training us to fit into its system (V3 versus V4, anyone?).  My Bad, of course.

On balance, I need a full keyboard to write prose.  Deep (BS) Thinking in this thread never comes easy.  Ha!   I'll take a good ADC Book Map over GPS any day.  Of course, for continental travel with lots of site-seeing, you probably need GPS.  Great comment above about "car maps."  I have a boat load of maps in my little 15-year-old, 5-speed Acura RSX.  Sadly, it's probably time for new phone, and soon.

I've never got used to touchscreens, to be honest.

Not sure if phones are working right now on Chicago, but if not, sure it isn't because of heat.

Yeah so do we. However when there is a power outage the cell phones come in handy.

I use my IPhone 7 plus for a chopping board.   nice smooth screen.   Going to upgrade soon...I'm thinking an X.

Want to know what's interesting?   I've did some research and I seem to get along better with females who own iPhone's over Samsung.   As in a better connection.  Kind of strange because that's not at all what I look for, but now I kind of do.
