Abyssal Echoes [RP]
Well, since most of you are now in the room, let's continue. Please, I need to continue the story or I won't get paid-
The room itself is a fairly normally shaped room, filled with fairly common room-filling objects such as a desk, some chairs, the leader of the Abyss branch of the OPRA, Gideon, and two other dudes who you don't recognize at all because you guys never communicate with any other teams. Gideon looks very tired, and is actively drinking coffee that probably won't do anything. He sets down the sad styrofoam cup of the liquid to talk.
"Hello at last. My name's Gideon, blah blah blah, I'm too tired to go through all the formalities. You all know why I called you here, right? You read the letter and whatnot? Good. Alright, so I am going to need you to basically run an escort mission for the OPRA's Heavy Armor. In case you don't know what Heavy Armor is, it's really just a giant robot, piloted by one man. The one man in question happens to be right here,"
He motions to one of the people you don't recognize. The guy gives you a thumbs up.
"His name is Max. He'll be piloting it all the way down with you guys. Heavy Armor isn't exactly the greatest at fighting a bunch of tiny targets at close range, so that's why we need you guys. The other person I recruited,"
He motions towards the other of the two men. He looks up from some sort of data tablet and gives a small nod in your direction, before returning to reading.
"Is our medic. I grabbed him off of one of the more competent scout teams. Now, any questions about your task? Make it quick, I need some sleep after spending hours of my life pulling in people and information as fast as I could."
He returns to drinking his coffee as he waits for any questions.
PHORCYS continues to lie on the ground face down, unmoving.
"INQUIRY: WHAT IS THE EXPECTED DENSITY OF ENEMIES? WHAT IS THE EXPECTED TYPE OF ENEMIES? AT WHAT PERCENTAGE LEVEL OF HEAVY ARMOR DEGRADATION DOES THE MISSION FAIL? HOW IMPORTANT IS THE LIFE OF THE MEDIC?"
"Expected density... you shouldn't expect too much, we're sending you down a path that other teams travel frequently, so the area is mostly cleared. Although, keep your guard up. A large, illuminated object like the Heavy Armor ought to bring a bit of attention in the endless darkness. The mission will fail after the Heavy Armor is incapacitated, either by heavy damage or the death of the pilot. We can't perform field repairs down there either, so any damage is permanent until the Heavy Armor comes out of the Abyss. As for the medic? Survival is optional, but I would greatly appreciate it if he came back alive. If he dies, you'll also have pretty much no form of healing."
Gideon looks Radriar dead in the eyes.
"No, you may not. It probably wouldn't do anything to PHORCYS anyway. As for suits? We... couldn't gather up enough resources to afford any for you. Mech suits are hard to get on such a short notice. You'll be using some rather small robots covered in magic glyphs-"
There's a scoff from the medic at the mention of magic.
"-that will supply you with light and oxygen."
Something seems to have popped up on Gideon's computer, because he immediately types up what is probably a two page essay as to why you guys aren't out in the Abyss yet before he continues talking.
"Anyways, you guys need to go now. We're on a tight schedule, and we only have one piece of Heavy Armor to share between all the branches of the OPRA."
He reads something on his computer, and motions for you to stop.
"Wait. I forgot to mention a few things. One, the Heavy Armor is currently equipped with our very own copy of a Kollosus cannon with it right now. We need that back intact, and you need it to take out the Scourge. Two, you've got another teammate waiting in the Abyss already. He's using one of our more... experimental suits. Biotech stuff that I'm not paid to understand how it works. Anyways, just thought I should tell you, since apparently more than one person has been scared by him walking in unannounced."
He points at the door.
"You can go now."
