Does any one know of any good sites for civil war gaming or can recommend a good civil war game. Thanks!

The was a company called Talonsoft that made a wide array of tactical war games, I am sure you can still find them, although the games may seem pretty old (because they are a little...)

It may seem old but I still love Sid Miers Gettysburg

i would recommend Gettysburg by Talonsoft. Its an older game, but its simple, easy-to-learn, and fun.

The best site for ACW gaming is Brett Schulte's TOCWOC .  He has a ton of articles on all sorts of different ACW games.

My current favorite ACW wargame is Forge of Freedom - but be advised that it has a steep learning curve.

There are other good ones as well, such as MadMinute Games Take Command Series and a bunch by HPS Simulations.

Hope this helps!

PS: As for Harpoon - I played it for years.  It's getting a bit long in the tooth now (I think I give Dangerous Waters a slight edge nowadays), but there is an active community here.

Sid Mier's Gettysburg is the best computer game I've played, but The History Channel Civil War The Game (not fps) is also good. Don't buy the first person shooter, I already did that, and it stunk. I think you're best off looking into board games; then you can play with real people (cause no ones playing online)

It's unfortunate that this war hasn't been used much by game designers, all they care about is World War II. Not saying killing Nazis isn't fun, but the Civil War was a more important war in our history.

Yes. I've read alot on both wars. But I do find the civil war more captivating. It would be fun to try new senarios in battles such as A.P. Hill not showing up till later at Antienam. I guess game designers like the added weapons and moblity of WWII.

The Civil War was the first war in history where fighting was done on a massive scale, driven by the mass production of the Industrial Revolution; plus it's our war. I hope to reenact some day, but it's an expensive hobby, and I have to become 18 to carry a gun.

I was playing Call of Duty 5 the other day, and one thing bugged me. Which is worse, playing for team Hitler, or playing for team Stalin? I couldn't decide, they're both pretty bad.

just play soldier front, who cares about ancient civil war... get into the modern life... its  a FPS (first person shooter) and its FREE!!

Wow, you tell me to get a life, and you're playing soldier front. I looked at it, and it's meerly mediocre in my opinion. I'd much rather dig up some cash to play COD4 or 5. Also, the Civil War saw the creation of your modern weapons; repeating rifles, machine guns, rifled weapons, breach loading artilery, ironclad warships, rotating gun turrets, submarines, this is no ancient war. Saying who cares about the Civil War is like saying who cares about history. Well, a lot of people do, you should, and it's true when people say you will repeat the past if you don't learn from it.

If you're into playing games in the gunpowder age, you might like Empire Total War. Even though it's set in the 18th century, that game is gonna be awesome, and in my opinion it puts any American Civil War game around now to shame. Pluss you get to fight the first civil war against the British.
