Nope!
Anonymous Posting

I was thinking about either strictly for entertainment purposes or presenting rather controversial ideas, that aren't necessarily true, or accusations, but sometimes I can't help but to ask the question what if sometimes...
Either way, I do feel it is nice to be able speak your mind, without fear of ridicule. Imagine if there were votes here that were privatized... that could be a use too...

Nameno had asked "Imagine if there were votes here that were privatized... that could be a use too..."
What votes? Like in what context?

I was thinking that controversial threads would have less riff raff, if the personal nature some people can't let go of...it sucks being judged for one idea, when people don't really know here...

I also think it would make some people feel more free to speak their thoughts here. It could make the forums more interesting.

there certainly are "cliques" here that all spam together.
Not to mention clacks. Musacha really needs to get some oil to those tappets.

And why do you want to hide ? if you want to say something just say it.... Everyone is entitle to have an opinion and there will be people that agree and not agree with you. Is my humble opinion....anonymous posting will open a non pleasant door...

Between the avatar pics and the profiles with thoroughly empty "About Me" sections, we already have rampant anonymity. Q.E.D.
If you don't like your street cred, just reinvent yourself. Simple.
Not a great ecosystem for accountability, or virtuous behavior, unfortunately.
Maybe when @Trysts comes back, things will pick up.

Is a terrible idea!
Already enough people on the site hiding behind avatars and mickey-mouse descriptions so they can blow their mouths-off without mum or dad catching them and giving them a row.
If you got something to say in the forums be big-enough to identify yourself first.

More Coporeal Punishment. Good for the Soul.
And no more horse faces for the Knights. Lancelot could role model.
Oops wrong thread.

@ Kenpo.....I still dont agree with you.....anonymous posting is the perfect license to say anything without having to worry a thing....Zborg said it just right...Not a great ecosystem for accountability, or virtuous behavior..... btw....what enemies are you talking about??? you sound too paranoid.

@Netzach is an excellent example of "About Me" information. And his posts largely relect that integrity, even if he hangs with the RSS crowd.
@Kenpo has "enemies," both real and imagined, because he's still auditioning for the movie, Brother from Another Planet.

Point taken. @Kenpo's always just a few posts away from stirring up a hornet's nest of aliens. But he likes living on the edge.

I've never wanted to post anonymously - I don't care who knows that I'm the Kool-Aid Man. And if one more person asks me whether the Kool-Aid in the pitcher I carry is the same flavor as the Kool-Aid which comprises my own circulatory system, I'm going to lose it. Mind your own business morons!

I think his implication is that certain groups of people who frequent the forums will attack you regardless of what you state solely on the basis of who you are.
but @zborgyhoneycuddles has a point. you can create an essentially anonymous account and post with that. unless your enemies have your computer thoroughly hacked or something.
I wouldn't risk a multi account ban to say what I could otherwise...
Have any of you ever wanted to post anything anonymously (to the other members and not to staff of course) because, you wanted what you had to say taken at it's face value, instead of it being judged because of who said it ? Or simply have things to say, but you didn't want thought of in a negative light for sharing your opinion ?
What do you think of the idea of Chess.com creating a way to post anonymous things that they can still police ?
