Any Catan fans out here?
I've never played it, but it seems very popular. In fact, my siblings and I are pretty into games (except chess they don't like it 😭). So I received a backgammon board for Christmas, and we were wondering if there were timeless board games (like chess, checkers, othello, backgammon, go game, etc) that were still being created nowadays, and one of my siblings the best candidate for this would be catan, so it seems like it's a good game.
I have a Star Trek version of it that I never played. I played Settlers of Catan once at a board game convention. A somewhat similar board game I played more often as a computer game is Terraforming Mars. You have tiles that generate resources. A flaw in Terraforming Mars is that one player can amass a tremendous number of action centered counting abilities so their turns last forever while another player might have a straightforward approach that is quickly resolved. It plays better on the computer because the amount of counting is excessive and the game drags when someone starts to lose. It’s like sitting there for two hours waiting for someone to finish filling out his taxes.
