I'm listening for the first time to "harmonies poétiques et religieuses" by Franz Liszt. Enjoying a work like this is one of the things that make life worth living

I always felt lizt was too many notes, pretty much summarised flair and virtuoso playing.guess I'm still not ready for lizt 😃. Been playing piano and listening to classical music 30 years. Both have a lot of similarities to chess.

Too broad a question.

There is great stuff out there, but "Don't Tell Me" that you are a "Sk8er Boi", I won't believe you.  I don't like it when life is "Complicated", it would ruin "My Happy Ending", but I "Keep Holding On" and I eventually realize that "Everywhere" I go, life can't be that bad, but I know, "All You Wanted" was a simple answer, "Believe" me.  "Are You Happy Now"?

But trust me, while there is great stuff out there, there is also complete and utter trash out there as well.  It is so bad it is a complete "Wrecking Ball".  God, "I Can't Stop" saying how terrible some music is, and having a 12 year old daughter does not help, dragging mom and dad into listening to her "Cold Cold Heart" as she won't behave and listen to us, and instead tells us "abcdeFU", or go retro and tells us "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" as the excuse for her behavior and yet have expectations not to be treated like a child.  "Oops, I Did it Again", talking trash about my daughter's bad taste for music.  Tack on her Anime and how she tries to force interest in it out of her parents and I wish sometimes that someone would "Hit Me Baby One More Time" upside the head!

But I guess that is life.  Some music is great and I can escape the horrors of life on a "Runaway Train" while other days life is a trash heap, and some music is just that, pure sh*t.  At least that is what I think, "U2"?

I have a wide range of tastes in music. I'm primarily music oriented so genres that emphasize lyrics usually don't interest me. Sometimes I learn the lyrics to a song, mostly not. The voice is just another instrument to me. If I like how the voice adds something to a song, I usually won't care what the actual words are.

The CD I would choose if stranded on that proverbial isle? A Deutsche Grammophon recording of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" starring Stern, Zukerman, Mintz, Perlman and the Israel Philharmonic. Excellent recording, master musicians, great music. Nuff said.
