It used to work that way for about two months after the creation of OTF, but we quickly proved to Erik that we couldn't discuss these topics without being total jerks about it, and the discussions always erupted into stupid rants and people blocking others every which way. The moderation on these types of topics is to keep this a safe and friendly place, instead of a forum where the whole front page is "TRUMP SUCKS AND YOU ARE STUPID IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE"

I'd rather read about people arguing over politics and religion. It's much more entertaining than reading boring crap.
I mean, unless you guys can come up with something entertaining. Acting nice about recipes and who can be the best virtue signaler isn't that entertaining.
