Are Guns Evil?

hmmm... and still no national smoking ban.  Wonder why?  (genuine question)

I imagine most of the firearm deaths are criminals killing criminals too.

Avatar of IoWzer0

In the U.S. other countries have different things to kill them.

Smoking generates huge revenue for the government. In Wisconsin cigarettes and alcohol are the two biggest sources of Income for the state government.

I would rather wish that people merely come to their senses, rather than the government or laws  forcing anything upon people.

Forcing the population to do anything without a majority consensus is not a good idea.

And so a majority of consensus is what we need.

It's a battle of REASONS and MORALS.

Just as we all have come to agree that speed limits are necessary.

...and I guess as long as you pay for private health care and it doesn't come from a national pot, there is no insentive for the government to stop deterioration in the nation's health.

All you people who advocate taking away a gun from a law abiding citizen are probably the same people who do not want anyone to drink too much soda, eat too much fat, coddle every criminal and essentially are the nanny staters. Cradle to grave government control. You trust your government to do the right thing but in effect are handing over your freedom.

You foolishly believe just because a law-abiding citizen doesn't have a gun that the criminals will not. Duh. That is the definition of a criminal someone who does not pay any attention to the law. My gun is not evil my gun is my savior in the event an armed criminal comes to my house and tries to hurt my family or me. My gun has never hurt anybody and in the event it does they'll deserve it.

I love these people who advocate taking guns away from law-abiding citizens who use them for self-defense. The criminals will still have the guns if you pass these proposed laws. Do you think the bad guys who want to rape and kill your families will seek a permit for their gun?

Shouldn't a 90 lb woman be able to walk at night to her home without fear of being attacked? What chance does she have against even one guy? You want to take her gun away?

Try taking the guns away from the US Navy SEAL heroes who killed UBL, you cowards.

Hey, let's outlaw knives as well. Geniuses.

Thank God three states just passed a bill allowing people to buy a weapon and carry it concealed without needing a permit first. Am I the only one who read about that? When your wife and daughter are raped and killed don't change your mind.

And for those of your in countries who insult US gun laws -- you rely on us for your protection. Hypocrites.

When I was a kid, I would watch a film - at the end of which, I would be very "angry" and "wish that I could teach 'some idiot' a lesson"...the Clint Eastwoods and the Charles Bronsons (Death Wish series) and the like are such films...you come out thinking, it's always the females who's gonna get a guy killed with all her whining/crying/screaming stupidity, or that "asshole" who looks like this and talks  like that (race not excluded) that needs to be killed...cuz you're sooooo damned pissed....

I was just a kid imbibing mindlessly all that bullshit nastiness in the films.

Today - I call these types of films C I_I N T films (no offense to you ladies - it has nothing to do with physiological gender typing).  It's sole purpose is to manipulatively yank your most primitive emotions about and fill you up with anger and hatred...against intended targets.

I imagine these "directors" and "screenwriters" are these C I_I N T s themselves projecting their nasty emotions onto the audience.

Let it be known, that my primitive emotions (residing in my brain stem), do not run wild anymore and can not be yanked about by such tactics...I'm not that 12 y.o. kid anymore.

Now, now, I know the types...you wanna "teach your interlocutor a lesson", maybe. Hoping that specific misfortune fall upon him - just so you can say " I told you so" "Serves him right" "He got what he deserved, etc."....

The latter in italics is not directed at you chicken_monster.

Are automobiles evil? Is lightning evil? Are baseball bats evil? Are kitchen knives evil? These are all stupid questions and so is "are guns evil"

Tracking off.

Unfortunately there is little that is rational about gun discussion. Quoting bible verse is a prime example.

Bible or no bible.

I've no religion.

Evil is real.

I don't know if others can see it.

But I do.

There are people who incarn it wholly.

There are good people who are animated by it, without their knowing it.

It kinda worries me a little that the more 'aggressive' poster in a discussion about arms is most often the one who's 'packing'.

I can just see the romans taking all the swords away from their citizens.

Avatar of IoWzer0

Hahaha. I just looked it up and roman citizens could kill tax collectors who were trying to seize their property illegally.

Avatar of RaydelRay

I have never heard of the government trying to take away guns from citizens, or seriously proposing a law to do that. There are so many guns in circulation, that would be silly, and impossible, anyway. The NRA has seen to it that criminals are armed to the teeth. But, criminals mostly kill other criminals.

Fear and paranoia is stoked constantly, it's an industry.

Guns are fun to shoot. My problem with 'gun culture' is the glorification of guns, and the hokey, weak macho-ism that some gun owners think owning a gun bestows them.

hmm, the Quran also contains Isaiah 45:22.

I wonder if Islamic terrorists also use this passage?

there are conversations that simply lead to nowhere and/or only to a worse place from where you started - period  - with certain people...schizophrenics, extremists, psychopaths...

The above picture confuses me.

Who exactly is talking?

The dog or the formidable looking machine gun?
