My brother and I were both acquainted with a woman who told us we were overly polite, but other than that I guess I'm pretty normal.

Goodnight!

Another thing about the Catholic experience was the,"wait 'til your father gets home" threat, which loomed over every day of my life. The father being a god, of course. There is some weird parallel between that experience and reading the many articles and comments on the Internet concerning the NSA spying. I was quite surprised that the Snowden leaks are shocking to people, but my surprise could be due to already having been conditioned in childhood about a mystical spy overlooking all my actions and thoughts while in Catholic school, and those actions and thoughts were being judged by an invisible stranger.

On the other side of the issue, people actually say that they don't mind being spied upon because they "have nothing to hide", as if they have been conditioned to find no value in their privacy. That refrain disgusts me every time I hear it and I hear it a lot more than I used to.

The value people place on privacy has diminished drastically in just the last ten years.

Is that from Orwell's 1984?
