Well?

Every other thread I stumble across seems to have this little disclaimer attached to the end. Sorry, are you? Now's your chance to redeem yourself. May 12th celebrated the international limerick day, and since chess.com's forums occasionally gather some learian poets, I thought it might be fun to hear some linguistic efforts from our finests.

There was a provoker, one Tonydal. Whose

chess didn't quite match Lilienthal's

But he scribbled few lines

to the troll who just whines

And the troll he ran out of morale.

Go on. Give it a shot. Who knows - maybe you'll actually manage something to feel sorry about.

Seeking to rhyme with bjazz

I opened a tin of peaches

Feeling less bored

Unto the chessboard

To think of some chess DOT com features.

An auld Scottish Rhymer "Excuse Me"

Succinctly advised on Game Queues, see.

His epic in dust is ...

- Poetic injustice -

Too clever by half, 'twas a doozy.

The game of chess 'tis like a war

Fought over one checkered board

Yet this fabulous fight

Between dark and the light

Can render some poor bastards bored!

(note: to make the beat work, pronounce the letters/numbers in the notation and not piece names)

A GrandMaster played with a noob

He thought "I'll send him down the tube!"

Qf3 Bd4,

Then a checkmate galore!

And the Grandmaster laughed "What a rube!"

(I'm sorry again, this is awful but in the spirit of overcoming all odds to win)

Here I sit watching pawns move,

thinking of the local loo

the clock is ticking, sure enough

the smell is harsh and rather tough

I think before I run and hide

I'll wait to see if he resigns.
