But back on topic. Can any of you mathematicians out there tell me how to calculate the volume of a dodecahedron? IT is a serious question. My boss asked me if I could look into it. Do not know how to start.

Not in the context of it being a field of study, no. Most historians agree that "modern history"..starts with either the French and American revolutions and the industrial revolution.
Naturally, 100 years from now, "Modern History" will be defined as starting with the internet !
haha. Maybe. Maybe the internet will define everything. I hope not. It is so powerful and pervasive that many people who are slaves to it or are very skilled at using/ abusing it..is that the same?.. genuinely believe that they don't need to know anything else. I suspect then to them anything that happened before the internet will be irrelevant. Even now with languages and communication being poisoned and dying from lazy and stupid "text speak" and people becoming more and more dumbed down, We are ignoring history. \If that's the case in 100 years. I;m glad I won;t be around.
I saw Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations" re written in text speak. It was supposed to be useful. It was like watching somebody tear up a Picasso.
