People keep starting threads about certain users being "banned." Is this some kind of running joke for people who simply voluntarily disabled or deleted their account?

I'm aware that people can get banned for some kind of misconduct, but there seems to be a wave of "banned" users within a short amount of time all of a sudden.

Tony, I take notice of a lot of pointless threads, but I go play a couple games and I just get sucked into the forums.
