Usually being honest makes you feel better and less guilty than lying does. However, it also depends on what the subject matter is. It shouldn't make a difference, but it does. If someone asks you if their outfit makes them look fat, (and it does) it might also feel bad to be honest.
I am being a little philosophical here though. Generally speaking, being honest feels a lot better than lying (and feeling guilty because of it). However, humans are sin-cursed and human nature makes dishonesty feel much more natural than it should. Why? Simply because it IS natural to lie if you truly examine human nature as it stands. It reminds me of a famous line in Joseph Conrad's novel, Heart of Darkness. The line was along the lines of:
character A: "Oh, come on, you can't blame me for lying - it is just human nature"
character B: (disappointed in character A) "Being here on this earth, it is our job to fight against our human nature."
p.s. Hopefully, I also gave some insight without giving away too much about the book. I don't want to be the one who spoils the story for a potential reader.
do you guys feel good when you be honest, or bad?
