Accounts can be closed for engine use, for abuse, for multi-accounting, for sandbagging, for trolling, for failing to treat other forum members humanely, etc.
If your friends got closed but claim that they "didn't do anything" the most probable explanation is that they don't want you to know what they did.
Not certainly! CC have closed many accounts by mistake, and have also provided them with membership to consolidate their loss. Even if Chess.com is the number 1 site, it isn't 100% perfect.
@Anonymous_dragon and @CRYYSIS are examples, their accounts have been closed before by mistake and chess.com reopened their accounts themselves.
