Cannibalism

OK, here I go with my usual erudite observations which no one cares about or wants to hear, and are probably full of it anyway. The truth is boring. Except this one. We wouldn't be here if our ancestors had not been cannibals. Resurrection myths come from cannibalism. Drink the blood, eat the flesh, everyone is saved in times of famine. My apologies to any Christians being offended by this. These are just theories and not meant to detract in any way from someone's beliefs. It would have been an honor to save your Clan. I would have been honored to have been Jesus. I don't know if that is blasphemy. Some of our ancestors practiced ritual cannibalism when someone died. To them, being thrown into a hole in the ground was more horrific than having your clan eat you. Everything is always a matter of perspective.

So it took two years for the OP to get answered and here we are two years after that. Woolley Boolley should be along soon to straighten us out.

Are you saying that the 2 fish Jesus got from the kid were really corpses? And that's how they survived? Cannibalism?

I opened a can. of worms, didn't I? I was going to say I won't be surprised when #29 is deleted. I don't know enough about the story to answer. I love all the stories and grew up with them. My main interest is ancient history and the development of culture from 74kya to 12,800 years ago, culminating in Gobekli Tepi and surrounding archaeological sites. This precedes the development of religions. Cannibalism was practiced for thousands of years in one way or another. The Wiki entry is a good summary of the subject. It is horrific to us, and it's hard to accept that our ancestors would do such a thing. I had a hard time with it. It was the only thing that could get us through a nuclear winter, and it's possible that there were several such periods in various parts of the world over the past two hundred thousand years.

There may be an inverse correlation between CO2 levels and Cannibalism. Less CO2 means more ice which means less food which means famine which produces Cannibalism. I love science! Of course, the reverse is also true. More CO2 and more heat means less ice which means less moisture in the air which means less rainfall which means drought which means less food which leads to Cannabilism.

Baby Jesus is usually a 40 watt light bulb, whenever I've seen him. My neighbor puts up a really nice manger scene every year. Now we are getting into religion. Don't know if we can even talk about yard decorations.

And I don't think I could do that, no. Better that he live. 'Dinner With a Cannibal', Travis-Henikoff, is a fascinating book about the Maori traditions and New Zealand history.
'The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers', Mary Roach, is another good book on the subject. For thousands of years, and to this day, certain cultures have ingested various parts of bodies as medicine. It was practiced in the U.S. A young intern working with my Doctor had read it and I got a medical viewpoint on the subject.
