Actor and Pullitzer prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard was arrested Saturday morning in central Illinois on preliminary charges of speeding and drunken driving. Police stopped Shepard, 65, around 2 a.m. in Normal, Illin. driving a Chevy Blazer. According to police, Shepard, who was driving 16 mph over the 30-mph speed limit, drove the vehicle up onto the curb and appeared intoxicated to officers. The veteran actor won a Pullitzer prize in 1979 for 'Buried Child' and received an Oscar nod for his role in 1983's 'The Right Stuff.'
Howard Stern, an attorney and partner of Anna Nicole Smith, was arrested March 12, 2009 by the Whittier Police Department and charged with conspiring to furnish drugs to Anna Nicole Smith. The former Playboy playmate and reality TV star died from an overdose of prescription drugs in 2007.
Basketball star Charles W. Barkley was stopped Dec. 31, 2008 in Scottsdale, Ariz. for failure to stop at a stop sign then arrested for driving under the influence after police detected alcohol on his breath and administered sobriety tests.
Guess he was feeling the need for speed? Actor Matt Dillon was stopped by Vermont State Police on Dec. 30, 2008 after his driving speed clocked in at 106 mph. He was taken in and charged with with excessive speed.
One-time NFL cheerleader and reality TV bride-to-be Mary Delgado was arrested in a Del Rio, Texas, bar, on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008. Delgado, who's been engaged to 'The Bachelor,' or professional bass fisherman Byron Velvick, since 2004, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and resisting arrest and released about an hour later.
