We all know the old nursery rhyme,

Sticks and stones.... words will never hurt me.

I find it odd how people can get so involved with a group of strangers to the point where they are glad they aren’t there anymore.

Different opinions and free expression are the only thing that keeps it interesting. If someone crosses a line then they should be warned by the authorities and eventually dealt with more sternly.

The authorities tho should allow a little too and fro before getting involved. You can’t just say you can’t say something because people might be offended. People are too easily offended.

Batgirl is right.

Itude was muted for 6 months.  The rationale behind such lengthy mutes has been to force to a member to write to support,  do some groveling and beg to have his voice reinstated -- as opposed to simply waiting out a 3 day or week mute.
Tired of the mutes (which he thought were either mistaken or unfair), he closed his own account.  He returned with one or two other accounts that were quickly closed as being mute-evasion accounts, a standard moderation policy.
All this is between Itude and chess.com since only they know the true facts of the matter.

That said, I'm uncomfortable with this long-mute tactic, finding it both insipid and disrespectful .... but it's their site and they can act any way they want.

Itude was no saint but I always felt he added a certain flavor to the forums.  I never thought of him as particularly abusive either, especially compared to dozens of others against whom no actions has been taken.  But chess.com of late has embraced irrationality.

re: bold part
I agree.

Dude, it goes WAY beyond that. Your post seems logical until you know who you are dealing with.

i'm glad he's gone and am surprised at batgirl for thinking he's normal

I just know him from our limited interactions and from my observations in the forums. However, your experiences sound kind of creepy.

Very unwise from his part. She is a black belt in something, if I remember well. Some things hurt more than a six months mute.

He would attack me.  I didn't engage him at that point but I considered it more abrasive than abusive.  As an adult I can deal with abrasion.

It's very mature of you Batgirl. Others are easily provoked. His Villain image is overrated. I like him better than many Snowflakes here.

The people you call “ snowflakes “ are people who have the right to defend themselves, against abusive behaviour

what "abusive behavior"?

TheHarbingerOfDoom
Snowflake is a term for those who are offended by everything. Every time someone is offended doesn’t necessarily mean someone has done something wrong.

Abuse is a word bandied around far too readily.

No doubt that those who are ‘offended’ will be suffering from post traumatic stress due to the offenders comments too - another phrase used much too easily.

Don't comment on things you know nothing about.

TheHarbingerOfDoom
Ok. What did he do to you? And if it’s anything other than wrote some words on a chess website then you seriously need to get a grip.

Its kind of funny to see the same names posting after years and years of being on this site. Same names for years but i still don't know your faces, voices, or real names. I wonder if any of you recognize my name. I wonder if kaynight will ever come back, i pretty much stopped reading when he left

Woollensock2
Kaynight was until a short while ago amongst us , unfortunately he was muted for six months ! 🙀

Are you saying Kaynight = Itude?

So he shouldn't have to follow the rules because WE don't own the site and WE didn't write the rules?   I didn't write the driving manual either but I think everyone should stop at red lights and stop signs. Batgirl has already explained that mutes are hard to come by....and 6 month mutes are even harder to obtain. Its a continued pattern of non compliance.  At this point in the game should anyone care what he did?  Of course not.                                                    What most people hate about snowflakes is the childish attitude of yeah but,.....yeah but.......yeah but......yeah but.......I shouldn't have to.......those are stupid rules anyways......etc, etc.

---   Yes as a matter of fact I'm sick and tired of a lot of the rules I have to put up with here and elsewhere also. I'm very tired of having to drive on the right-hand side of the road and I want to try driving on the opposite side !  Wheeee !!!

Any way we can get Bestone10 muted.?   Clearly he has a dog in this fight. He created the thread....."Analysis of Itude Part 1.  After that got locked he created Part 2..   a pattern of non compliance..https://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-topic/analysis-of-itude-part-2-59745004

That sounds very greedy of you.

Other people can have different opinions from you without being punished.

Why do you want him muted anyway again?

What has he done wrong to get him muted? Answer objectively. And if you can't... You are almost certainly wrong.

Since your reading comprehension is so bad,......  as explained before by Batgirl...... the mute is between Itude & Chess.com for violating the T.O.S. Plenty of members have served out mutes without resorting to the childish game of creating 27 new accounts.

I was taking about Bestone10.

The one you selfishly wanted muted
