You have to keep in mind that a locking of a thread is necessary sometimes. However, if it is just a select few or one individual breaking the TOS on your thread, they should be muted instead of the whole thread getting locked. So I agree for the most part.

My forum https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/first-ever-survey-on-chess-com-rare got locked by a spammer who kept spamming when I was sleeping. Before that, in the SAME EXACT FORUM, there was someone talking politics and never stopped, until @Staerex came and solved the issue. Before that, back in Dec (?), my most successful forum on Chess.com Community, got locked due to people spamming, but still they never gave a single word of explanation. And thousands of other forums were like this.
Petition for mods/staff: Stop locking forums unnecessarily unless there's a really good reason. At least give an explanation for God's sake. You can just delete the spam comments and keep the forum open. But locking an entire thread is not the solution. And if the thread has way too many spam comments, lock the thread, WITH EXPLANATION, then delete the spam, and unlock the thread again. I will be very happy to block spammers. Thank you, have a nice day.
