Bel, I don't play many at a time. Can't play in fact! I like to concentrate on few. But that's enough for dreaming!

Yes, I dream about chess moves in sleep.

BlueEyedLady

Focused Concentration is probably the best way to do well. I started out with a few games but slowly added more. I like to see how different people play their games. ;-)

All the time Blue.   I make as many moves in my sleep as I do on the board as I do when I'm awake....lol  I also dream about being in my old radio station playing music from midnight to 6....lol   Not even gonna tell you how many old movies I dream about....lol

BlueEyedLady

I think we dream about what is heavy on our mind or deep in our heart. For me it was math because i was trying to solve it. Hopefully one day I will know enough about chess to have dreams about it.

Terry, I loved your post about the music and movies. lol

BillPhilip

Yes Bel. An involvement with the subject effects.

I too have dreams some of them may be about chess. What I think is that the mind has no distractions when sleeping and it is able to focus on the problem at hand. While when awake we are in some kind of hurry although we may not have anything to do but we like ourselves to be free and available for another task. Or trying to proove how fast I can deal with things at hand. That may be the reason we simply do not see the solution right in front of us.

BlueEyedLady

Very good point rajan_thakurdesai. Thank you for your comment.

knightspawn5

Not sure that I agree with that rajan_thakurdesai , I think the mind has many distractions when sleeping though your subconsciouswhere we store both good and bad memories.  Our days are filled with concious thoughts and are stored in our bains for review later when we sleep.  Sometimes good and sometimes nightmares.  Just depends on what gets re;eased during rem sleep.....

BlueEyedLady

Very true Terry.

rajan_thakurdesai

Yes I agree Terry. When I close my eyes and try to sleep and if some topic just starts off, I am in complete control of it. Then at some point a battle starts between me and my sleep. Here the brain brings in a lot of commotion and also tries to link each one to the topic. And finally I loose the battle to sleep. I think this is what may be common to most people. But the time before the brain brings in other thoughts (garbage in computer language) I have complete focus. This is probably where you may get answers that you did not find when you were awake.

I can choose whether I lucid dream a particular night or not, but the process is tiring and usually the dream is so real that it is scary and I also wake up with sleep paralysis. I've never had a chess dream but I could have one if I wanted.
