Chess For Oldtimers --- Part II
Due to some minor technical problems ( re a troll and/or sock-puppet ) I've got to restart this old old thread here under new management and yet as it turns out I'm still the same old me lol.
--- Yup the previous thread on this subject is getting messed up again due to too much Horse Manure so I'm bringing this new version tread back again, those Clowns are back lol.
A cute quote from Bill Vaughan: " By the time you're eighty years old you've learned everything. You only have to remember it. "
" The only two things that we do with greater frequency in middle age are urinate and attend funerals "; a funny item from Fred Shoenberg lol.
I came across this funny item earlier: Alice was asked by a friend if she ever thinks about the hereafter. She said, " I do all the time. No matter where I am in the house, kitchen, den, upstairs, downstairs I ask myself: Now what am I here after ? "
A cute item from Bruce Lansky: " You know you're getting old when getting lucky means you've found your car in the parking lot. "
A funny item from Peter Dugdale: " By the time you get to fifty people expect you to be mature, responsible, wise and dignified. This is the time to disillusion them. "
A funny item from Peter Dugdale: " By the time you get to fifty people expect you to be mature, responsible, wise and dignified. This is the time to disillusion them. "
--- In the the area of expectations I'm afraid that I'm below average lol.
A funny quote from HL Mencken: " The older I grow the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom. " Truly a very accurate statement lol.

the age old question of which is better-youthful energy or old wisdom-will never be answered in any way that determines which is better.
i'm fairly middle aged (51). i remember doing such stupid things 30 years ago. i remember not knowing so many things then. now i have learned more, but i do not have the energy to do what i have done in the past.
an example for today would be this-i'd rather read about a protest and comment about it than being a part of it. when i was younger, i'd be on the front lines! today, i'd rather focus on policies that result in the protests.
Also true Tony.
