Chess Poem

I had to write a poem for my English class so I thought "Why not on chess?"

Here is the sonnet that I wrote: 

Come here and revel in this game of minds

As men have done for o’ so many years,

And best think long because I am not blind,

But I am kind, you have no need to fear.

So join me as we bear on our shoulders,

An army for us to lead and control.

With our few faithful fighting foot soldiers,

Who would sacrifice themselves for the whole,

While my soldiers reap blood in the front lines,

The Royalty remains safe in the back,

As knights prepare for their moment to shine,

To charge the line and join in the attack.

And I begin to realize that this gore,

Is simply sixty-four squares-nothing more.
