Combat Mechanics for a game I may make. Making a post to reference from.

Roll methods-1-30 and 1-15

Swing attacks roll 1-30 once

Thrusts roll two 1-15 and add up the total

If your value goes over an enemies "Parry" Value you deal full damage of your specific weapons damage

Players are naturally given 3 moves

Light armor-Plus 10 max hp. Plus 5 parry Gives. 2 extra move and plus 20 to dodge. Loses 2 moves for using polearms and heavy weapons, Bonus damage to strike/swings. Reduced damage from thrusts.

Medium armor-plus 18 map hp. Plus 8 Parry. Gives 2 extra move, Base Dodge Chance, Bonus damage with thrusts, No move penalty for polearm weapons. Heavy weapons removes one move. Reduced damage against strikes.

Heavy armor- Plus 24 Max Hp. Plus 12 parry. No extra moves. -5 Dodge chance. Bonus damage to strike and thrusts. BOWS are unusable with this set of armor (Crossbows are not) Reduced damage against strikes and thrusts. No penalty for any weapon.

Retaliation.

Abilities can be used to raise or lower parry chance to counter certian moves an enemy could use. You can't see what ur enemy is using so it's a guessing game.

Example.

Knight has a high parry value and Goblin has to overcome that to deal damage

Goblin may want to perform (Organ Shatter) "It's a fancy name for front kick" Which will land only if it goes under a parry value.

Knight can use a retaliation move during the enemies turn to perform a special action (I'll make it balanced somehow) Called "Fools guards" Dropping parry value by 95%. If it defends against a move it will ground an enemy. This can be used either on a enemy you just know will roll a low number or guess the enemy may try and guardbreak you.

Or the knight may use "Righteous Might" incase the Goblin wants to use a special move to try and go over the parry. Which will bolster his parry.

If a retaliation fails, the person who initiated a retaliate will lose 5 parry for 2 turns.

Afflictions-

Negative perks with bonuses that add personality and believability to characters.

Examples

Prejudice, Elves. -10 roll to conversations with elves. Plus 5 damage to elves and plus 5 to intimidation rolls to elves.

Fear of Eldritch- Minus 8 max hp when encountering the eldritch. Hp loss last for a dungeon or 1 day of rest.

Feral- Bonus move and plus 60ft to moving in combat. Due to hair growth you have a -5 to all dialogue actions. Extreme religious fanatics of certain religions may attack you on sight for resemblance of a Lycanthrope.

Still thinking of Faction systems.
