Claims of miracles and so on, are your "sides" speciality...are they not ?

1. Yes there are miracles.

2. You seem to be the one claiming a false point on our side.

There are only miracles if you wish to call them that.

Once properly investigated the vast majority turn out to be perfectly understandable

Those that are not may well be pure and simple luck, coincidence or a statistical fact.

There really is no need to attribute them to anything other that that...unless you want to of course

My teddy performed a couple of really good ones last month

Errr...

Still no verse or an attempt to contradict a verse.

“The prayer of a righteous man will be answered.”

There was once a 90s show where some guys were on TV, claiming, “We can disprove the existence of God right here. So we will pray to god to turn this wate here into wine. “

Wrong. The prayer was not even answered.

That's not how God works......

Right, plus you're bringing up a TV show...?

We are just one of millions of species on millions of planets in millions of universes.  We live a short life and then the mass of our bodies gets converted to energy.  We have a short life, suffer a lot at the end and then disappear totally.

So what would be the point of it all? Is life then not meaningless and devoid of purpose?

Avatar of GRANDMASTER_100

Everything has a purpose, right? I think that's safe to say regardless of which side you're on. Then tell me, how is it possible to find meaning in an intrinsically purposeless universe? Would your so-called purpose for yourself not be vanity? This is my problem with the concepts of evolution and atheism...the universe apparently spontaneously came into existence...out of nothing and for no reason.

An imaginary being cannot manifest its presence and power to millions of people, since the beginning of time. God has showcased His supremeness to us on countless occasions, and it is left for us to accept His goodness. Denying the truth does not falsify it!

Avatar of GRANDMASTER_100

Yes, I think that is a safe assumption.

From a Christian perspective, God has a special plan for each and every one of us. It remains our decision whether we accept this and follow His will. But I can't really use a Christian belief to support a Christian point, can I? Lol. There is also the philosophical concept of teleology and Aristotle's Ethics, where he argues that everything has a purpose or goal, and that the purpose is always to attain some good (hmm...I wonder what that could be...)

Yes, it is seems rather silly for everything not to have a purpose. Because something doesn't make sense to us has never been a reason for us to ignore it, most especially when there is an explanation...God.

When people abandon God's will, they lose sight of their intrinsic purpose, and in the process, attempt to create other goals/milestones to fill up the void that now exists in their soul. The things you have mentioned (hedonism, wealth, power, etc.) cannot grant one true, long-lasting happiness. This is what God offers us. In spite of sorrow, tribulation and hardship, God still has a purpose for us. And you cannot expect to casually find it by questioning Him the whole time, waiting for it to arrive at your doorstep. One has to seek first the kingdom of heaven.

When aiming to gain things like wealth and power, there is always a point where you can climb no further and you realise that all that is meaningless. When seeking the kingdom of God, there is always a step further for God to manifest his goodness through us, and we shall ultimately attain eternal happiness in heaven, provided we accept his invitation.

Oh, what about the placebo effect then ?

I just love the way it can be interpreted in any way you choose..don't you

This is just getting silly.

What is silly is that if I pray to me teddy bear 100 times for something, some of the time what I ask for will be granted

But I don't then assume my teddy is a god

God is not a genie...

Where does it say he is a genie in the bible? Verse please.

Well if praying to God has as much effect as praying to my rock, I know to who I'll pray.

That is a very ignorant statement.

Ok, then why hasn't a righteous man prayed for global peace?

Oh wait, there have been.

Well, I can claim a level of efficacy on it, after all, I can pray to have a six on my dice and there's 1/6 chance it's granted no matter who I pray to.

And you expect to contribute anything valid to this discussion by ignoring the opinions of others. Literally read the next sentence.

Another ignorant statement. If you do not at least understand the concept of prayer, please don't comment on it.

Yes, they have. And God will keep giving everyone the opportunity to repent and change their ways but again, we have to say YES to his will! At the end of it all, the ultimate goal is the peace and eternal happiness IN HEAVEN.
