Is that a shift on the burden of proof?

When Christians run out of arguments they often say to read the bible or search for ourselves usually to change the subject as a get out of jail free card.

Manatini and myself were Christians for many years (and seem to have similar stories if comment #1131 is anything to go by).

We were both raised Christian. Im quite sure i understand and know more of the bible then most of my Christian friends. A few years ago i went through all the pro-Christian science youtube channels and websites (answers in genesis and many other ones like that) and was unpersuaded by what i saw.

I have researched and learned about Christianity for most of my life and am still learning and hearing more, but yet nothing has made me re-believe.

So either show me new arguments, or link me to new arguments- but don’t tell me to “just search a tiny bit”

Also people can and are hurt even today by others beliefs in god.

Even in Northern Ireland, same sex marriage is illegal (Despite elections) due to a religious party.

Religions have done great things in the past and present, like charities, and of course I’m not blaming you guys for the crusades or anything, but to say belief in God doesn’t ham people...

Yeah. It often does. Of course 98% of Christians are cool but theres a vocal, dangerous minority- as there is in any group.

Northern Ireland is slow when it comes to equality due to religious extremism. Homosexuality became legal in England, wales and the US in 1967 whereas in NI it was a criminal act up to 1982 (1981 for the Scots, in case your wondering) and this was only due to pressure from the EU all because of religious extremism. . 

Thankfully without an NI government at the minute west minister has been able to push the issue forward, so t will be law in October unless NI can get a government together and the aforementioned party can veto it- but that’s unlikely.

The same is with abortion, legal in England, Wales and Scotland in 1967. I think abortion has only just become legal in July 2019 due to the religious right wing trying everything to stop it (abortion is a tricky subject and religion isn't the only reason why someone could be against it but in this case religion was the main reason for the law being postponed for so long).

  

Northern Ireland is a bit of a mess to be fair, and only partly due to religious issues.

As a matter of fact Northern Ireland is a great example of somewhere were religion has become too absorbed into politics- now someone being a “catholic” or “Protestant” is almost a political statement as opposed to a religious one- the two are almost completely intertwined.

Religion and politics don't mix. when they do, Northern Ireland, Ireland and the whole middle east is the result.
