I personally wouldn't take no Sputnik Russian vaccine myself, or advocate for others to take it. Unless there was a way to check all vials for damaging substances.

Maybe, but the Russian one uses known technology, like the old vaccines of all our life, while pfizer's and moderna's are that new untested RNA tech.

South Africa has questions about efficacy but are still proceeding with another trial of 100K individuals using AZ vaccine. They have not said it was a "huge failure"

   About a week ago, someone asked where did the virus come from. My reply was that the WHO--World Health Organization--was looking into that now. I didn't read the entire article, but the're preliminary report was released today....https://www.healthcareitnews.com/news/emea/who-report-highlights-need-better-data-improve-pandemic-response   They started with 2 lines of investigation....human...& animal as to its origin. They ruled out the human line of inquiry pretty quick. It was implied that a lab releast  it either purposely or un-intentionaly. Then they stopped the animal line of investigation either for scientific or unknown reasons. They now think it may have gotten to Wuhan on "frozen fruit".....  ???  I know, right?.... That's a new one on me.  I'm not questioning it because clearly those people are a lot smarter than me. I just remember all the rumors & propaganda that all the people were screaming about in early 2020.....it was bats, then it was snakes, then it was a gov conspiracy, etc.  The fruit was eaten by the animals, and the animals were eaten by the people. I bet your not gonna look at frozen yogurt the same heh?

I would not rule out the Russian vaccine based on some kind of pre-existing bias.  That's the same as dismissing the Moderna vaccine as some kind of Bill Gates mind control device .

The mRNA vaccine technology is only new for vaccine use.  It's an 8-10 year old technology.  If I had to guess to guess why it was not applied to vaccines, I would guess that it was not the most profitable target of opportunities before...but now it is.  At its core, unregulated capitalism does not care about human costs, just $$$, and until the $$$ and the wellbeing of human beings coincide there's no solution forthcoming.

That would be good news if that turns out to be the case.  Pfizer described the effectiveness 10 days after the first dose to be at 52% and 94+% 10 days after the second dose. 

A notable advantage of the mRNA vaccines is that they can be reformulated in a matter of hours (of course you still need testing, and all the logistics of manufacturing and distribution).

That will be an important advantage with some of the variants.  

ohh, what a coincidence this data shows up just after the labs sold million doses, as the countries believed they needed to vaccinate people twice. Coincidence?

    The effective % could be why they have to keep it at a very low temperature.... ?   Maybe as it warms up, it loses its effectiveness.

This is not surprising at all. The sample was limited to current health care workers required to also wear PPE at work and in the public (country requirement).  Proper PPE usage by health care workers is also highly effective alone so it makes sense it would also be highly effective with the vaccine.  

So I got vaccinated about 12 hours ago (Pfizer)...I got lucky that the VA is ahead of the curve here and has dropped the threshold to age 55.

So far so good.  My symptoms?  A very sore upper arm muscle.  That's it.

My parents both got the Moderna vaccine and are close to their second doses.  Also fine so far.

Get vaccinated when the time comes.

It's one of the best  The first dose usually doesn't feel so bad unless you already had contact with the virus. Good luck!
