I’m due to get vaccinated next week, with the BioTech/Pfizer vaccine. Can anyone tell me if this is a good vaccine ?

Pfizer and Moderna are both "new" mRNA vaccine technology, and are 95% effective a few weeks after the 2nd dose.  These are the highest effective rates of the various vaccines.

AstraZeneca is good too

Vaccines are safe: there's about between four and five per million vaccinations with the Pfizer and between two and three per million vaccinations with the Moderna

Since people are now being directed to post about Covid on this thread only (that was not my call or desire, for the record wink.png...), I am going to unblock most of the people that had been blocked (there's a block listing at this link from the first page if you need to check).

If you have been blocked once already, just be aware that it's one warning and then back on the block list, or no warnings if the post is way out of line...and "way out of line" will be determined at my discretion.

The Covid genome sequence proves gain of function modification.

Covid was genetically modified in the Wuhan lab in order to make it transmittable from human to human.

The U.S. government was funding the research in Wuhan.

Really?

Well we are off to a great start...the funny part is that you weren't on my block list, I think you just assumed you were because of your old account, Tumpai Tubo.

Blocked for posting conspiracy theories, without even an attempt at backing it up, I might add.

The last item listed is actually true, but the funding was not for creating Covid-19.  See:

Apparently I will have to go through a whole round of people that take this opportunity to mess around.

It's fine...I expected as much.  But I wanted to give people another chance since otherwise at this point people blocked on this thread have no other venue for posting about Covid-19 on the forums.

Vaccinations are proceeding at pace in England, about 20 million now. Some side effects reported but nothing more severe than a few days feeling 'off'. By all accounts it has been well organised. The plan is for a phased lifting of lockdown restrictions with different freedoms allowed every 5 weeks. Government is being extremely cautious as further lockdowns caused by jumping the gun will be terrible news for everyone.

I’m at a loss as to why he is allowed such  behavior.

I see you managed to edit your post.  Your first post and the edited tirade have amply displayed exactly why I am "allowed such behavior".  It's because of posters like you, that cannot restrain themselves.

That's okay, though, the post will not be sticking around.

68 million doses given in the US as of yesterday I think...I expect that the 65+ population will be covered by end of March or so, and I'm not sure after that if they are planning to go to 55+, 50+, or just open it to everyone.

So I got vaccinated about 12 hours ago (Pfizer)...I got lucky that the VA is ahead of the curve here and has dropped the threshold to age 55.

So far so good.  My symptoms?  A very sore upper arm muscle.  That's it.

In my experience, reactions to the vaccine are more likely after the second dose, but some recipients show no effects.

Yep, that's why I said "so far so good"...I didn't want to wait 3 weeks to post about the vaccine, though.  We need more people to talk about getting the first and/or second doses, so people get comfortable with the idea that it actually works.

After I get my first vaccine shot next week, I will post a report telling you how it went !
wsswan

I got my first vaccine a couple weeks ago with no problems. March 8 I get the booster.

Call the VA advice line and ask for an appointment...in any case, even people at 75+ have "only" 15% mortality.  Which is awful, but 85% live.

RonaldJosephCote

Yeah, in Dec. the V.A. said Feb. They called last week and said, "we want you to come up and do blood labs" for your annual check-up. I said, well tell me when to come up for the vaccine and I'll do them both. They said, Ok...we'll get back to you.  I'm 64, so I wasn't in the 65 & over batch. Also, individual govenors control what states do. I got a sister in Florida who got her 1st one last week, and another sister in Boston who's fighting with the computer for an appointment. I'm on the public housing list also for the vaccine. I'm just gonna take whoever calls 1st.

It is not only you who has to wait. Look at Europe.

There is still a shortage of vaccines in many countries. For example, the German government has set a strict order for vaccine recipients. It divided all populations into four groups and prioritized them according to the level of health risk. This means that anyone who is younger than 65 and does not work for a medical or educational institute is at the very back of the line. These people will get a jab - if everything goes well, July 2021 - if there is problem in the production/delivery, August 2022!!! (On the other hand, there are many people who refuse to be vaccinated, especially vaccine of AstraZeneca. Only about 12% of Astra-Zeneca-vaccine was used.)

European countries, whose economy depends on the touristic branch, demand the issuance of the Corona-Vaccinations-Pass, which entitles owners to free from many of corona-restrictions. Since not everyone has the chance to get the vaccine, this free pass will tear society apart.

It is dangerous if we simply think that vaccination is the end of the restrictions. If vaccinated people would throw away the anti-corona-measures too early (before reaching the herd immunity), it would cost more lives. I have question to Americans and the English; As vaccination proceeds so well in your country, is there any change to the corona-restriction?
