Covid-19 Discussion (moderated)
My values and opinion are 100% expressed by the videos that I post.
If it hurt your feeling that is not my intent.
But Toire enjoy them so much it's hard not to get motivated by posting some just for him ![]()
Since when did a "Discussion" Thread equate to posting incessant numbers of YouTube videos?
I have asked people in the past, including Marie, to try to not just post videos without comment but to offer discussion points as well...it's better that way, but it's certainly not needed 100% of the time. That being said, the videos are all Covid-related and from recognized sources, not some psychologist pretending to be a virologist (for example), and clearly less egregious than the litany of people you will find on the block list.
The videos are invariably politically motivated, which I understood were not allowed.
Anyway, my point has been made and the videos and poster are easily ignored.
Were people in 1918 smarter than us? They saw no problems with masks. Not even smoking, they just poked holes in them masks to smoke

I buy and sell philatelic items and on a couple of occasions I've bought big job lots of old, American letters. I opened one a couple of weeks ago that had been posted in 1895 and it obviously had been put away and had been untouched since then. In between the folded sheets was a big bunch of flowers from 1895.
There was another item, written in 1920 by a female student at Wellesley College, the same one attended by Hillary Rodham. She starts by asking her mother for a list of clothes but goes on to say how fed up she was of the lockdown. She says that the college years in 1919 and 1920 were completely boring .... no field trips etc. She was completely fed up of the quarantine.
If you don't mind, since you can't argue intelligently, I'll ignore you and all of your comments because your obstinacy and sarcasm, not to mention self-satisfaction, although it probably meets the requirements for this club, irritates me and there's no more point answering you than answering TruthMuse.
You are such a loser. Backing you into a corner is extremely easy and, in fact, fun. You're like a child who reverts to petty innuendo. You've grown old now grow up. Arguing intelligently obviously means agreeing with you.
Your pitiful excuses for not wearing a mask are childish at best and a weak argument in any case.
1. get used to it
2. wash your mask. That people don't is not a reason masks are bad it's an indication of people being stupid
3. skin problems? You make things up to fit your position
I most definitely mentioned muffled voices like in surgery. Learn to read.
My ability to discuss is fine. Your ability to read is less than perfect.
.
You're only four years older then me but you act like a silly, aggressive, self-centred old man who is completely self-satisfied. Honestly, I have no interest in talking to you. You're like a wind-up puppet. Maybe Mr Punch out of Punch and Judy.

It was obvious that your hostility came from your political bias!
All your comments were politically motivated and it hurt you so bad to see the facts.
Yes ignore them because you obviously cannot accept the reality.
Self centered like someone who claims his discomfort with a mask is worth risking spreading a virus to others? I see. As far as no interest, try actually not responding since you have nothing substantial to say other than how you view me. Rather childish dodge from actually making a viable point.
It's a valid point about masks, but many countries and states have had strict mask mandates, others, less strict or not at all and as far as I can see, they don't seem to have made any noticeable difference, the virus has continued to spread in waves as viruses do. My wife has to wear masks all day long and they're so uncomfortable for her, and if the government are hell bent on forcing people to wear them under the threat of fines, they should at least provide good evidence that they actually work, rather than forcing them on the basis of "well medical staff wear them so it must be working" It's pretty clear by now that mask mandates, social distancing and half assed lock downs have done little or nothing to stop covid but these policies have delayed numerous cancer scans (over a million UK breast cancer scans alone) heart checks, etc I dread to think how many will die as a direct result of these policies.
Use your common sense so you will understand how they work,it's not rocket science.
I agree it's a pain to wear them for a long time.

I understand how they're supposed to work but if they're catching droplets containing covid, people remove them, it's on their hands, they touch things, others touch, yes we have hand sanitisers but people on the street just don't go through the sterile scrub up process of a surgeon every shop they go into etc, bottom line is, it makes sense in theory, in reality it simply didn't work.

Yes you are right it's not simple but think about what would happen if no one was wearing them since march 2020.....it does work but again it's one of the tool we have.
Btw we must use a quality mask or it's almost useless.
Several points:
- There were mask mandates and protests about mask mandates during the Spanish Flu, just like now.
- The Spanish Flu killed 50 million worldwide. That's the consensus estimate although numbers range from 17 million to 100 million. Covid-19 has killed 4.3 million worldwide and counting. So, the Spanish Flu wins out by an order of magnitude more people, at least.
- The Spanish Flu killed 675,000 people in the US. Covid-19 has killed 635,000 people and still counting in the US. So what is different between the US and the rest of the of the world? Are we 10 times more stubborn and ignorant a hundred years later than the average world citizen? The UK numbers are also askew, by the way. There were 228,000 dead from Spanish Flu, 131,000 dead from Covid-19. Only a handful of times more stubborn and ignorant. Well, the UK is always kind of playing catch-up, so allowances must be made
.
It's not really about the ignorance though. That would be a disservice to generally ignorant people, the majority of whom follow Covid-19 measures when explained to them. It's about ignorance combined with a sense of entitlement and superiority over every other population group, which both the US and the UK have in spades. The US is still convinced they are #1, and the UK is brought up learning that were always #1 before those Yanks came along.
Get over it. Be responsible. Stop whining like babies about very livable impositions that are transitory...which is most surprising coming from the stiff upper lip Brits who weathered the daily bombings of WWII, by the way. What happened to "keep calm and carry on"? Follow the example of your smarter neighbors...no, not those lackwits down at the pub...the other ones
.
If people had done this, this pandemic would already be under control by now. You don't need any more proof than what I posted about Texas and Florida accounting for 40% of hospitalization this week to see that the ignorant are causing the most damage here by continuing to pretend they know better.

Projection, thy name is Optimissed.
It's time we all got back on topic.
It's Sunday. Though there's lot of reasons for the ratcheting up, today will be the end of the personal attacking posts. You are free to discuss points, and free to attack poor reasoning and conclusions, but posts whose content is nothing but invective towards another poster with no Covid-19 related content will result in a block.

I dont think it made a difference, had people disposed of their masks after each use and changed to a fresh sterile one, and if people had sanitised everything they touched in public then maybe as a tool, it could've had more effect but expecting a whole population to do that for that amount of time while working, shopping etc, it wasn't going to work.

I'd call it sensible, since masks have no proven benefits. Now do try to grow up.
Anyway, people not wearing masks are communicating a very important message. It's to stop the hysteria. Since masks aren't proven to prevent infection but wearing a twelve foot diameter balloon on your head filled with air would be effective, isn't it irresponsible of you not to do that? It would provide you with about seven thousand cubic feet of air for your sole use, thus preventing cross-contamination and also provide six feet of social distancing as a side effect, which would be doubled if everyone wore them.
I wish data was more reliable even about historic numbers from months ago. I have tried to keep up with it locally but even the "official" figures are all over the map compared to sites like the Mayo Clinic or other respected medical sites. It is obvious that vaccines are effective and that boosters will be a way of life for a while but the mask issue is still in flux as far as definitive evidence. Sure it's logical as part of a solution but so are hazmat suits. At what point to we start to seriously worry about the economic effect of a return to masks and lockdowns?
I went to the gym today. Roughly half of the people there were not wearing a mask, which has been the norm since Ca. was locked back down. At the gym I watched parts of a wnba game, pga tournament, nascar, soccer, and track and field. NONE of them were wearing a mask. So I ask again. If this virus is so deadly why aren't they required for professional athletes, caddies, and spectators? But i need to wear a mask to buy eggs?
This is partly why so many are so distrusting of what is going on, the govt. and all the rules regarding the virus. I can see why some just think its another example of the rich/famous being able to do what they want, while the rest of us have to conform.
When something doesn't make sense. Questions should be asked.
Since when did a "Discussion" Thread equate to posting incessant numbers of YouTube videos?
Since you need some valuable info that will help you say something meaningful in this thread! Did you expressed something valuable lately?
I will delete all my videos when you will prove to me that you have something better to say!
Btw I only posted 10 videos in the last 8 months..if it bother you maybe it's because you do not like the content so are you really offended or just a troll?
With that gibberish, I now know why you prefer to post videos...and note that you solely rely on the opinion of others.
Yes i love to rely on facts and valuable witness opinions and on peoples with science background because i'm not a genius like you who prefer to criticize valuable info while hiding his agenda.
And since you love my video so much i have a new one just for you!
I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot
