Well this is discusting the way the world is treating So Africa. If you even look at them to long, you could catch the new variant. I understand we have to be cautious but instead of treating them like lepers, whatever happened to....."we're all on this planet together"?  We should be saying, what can we do to help?                                                                                             https://www.yahoo.com/news/fauci-says-omicron-variant-likely-151154911.html

The Oklahoma National Guard should be deployed to South Africa......... you know, for umanitarian reasons........ & crowd control. wink.png

A video uploaded 21a sept 2019 (!!) and she predict it ALL, would be interesting what RonaldJosephCote and the rest dominating this thread have to say about it !

She didn't "predict" anything, but if you believe that she did......then you should continue to listen to her.  This is not a political thread.

Alright sure, just tried to put in some perspective thumbup.png feels a little monotonous every time I return to this thread...

With containment and lockdowns. Say there’s four different areas. Area 1, area 2, area 3, and area 4. The people in those areas can only move around sometimes in their area. Now let’s say that the virus is hypothetically blocked form everywhere else from spreading. But it lingers in those areas. COVID shall still last in some certain places in their areas. Now let’s say. “Hey, lock down is over. You are free to move around”.

Each 4 areas viruses of the COVID strain mutated in their own ways. So now you have 4 different COVID variants released all at once. With vaccines only designed for those specific areas. The virus spread quickly. What would happen?

There is no toxic sh.t in any vaccine and they are proven safe at 99.99%.

The timeline for Omecrom is getting a little clearer now. My local news is saying it originated in Europe 1st,....then went to So Africa. A soccer team from Europe went to So Africa to play a game. They were tested before they left, and didn't get the results until after they returned.

New data has exposed a stunning revelation about the origin of the Omicron Covid-19 strain, as Australia deals with at least six cases of the new variant.

On Tuesday, Dutch health authorities revealed the Omicron variant was present in the Netherlands earlier than previously thought, and before South Africa had first reported the new strain of Covid-19.

The variant was found in two test samples from November 19 and 23, with one having no travel history, suggesting that the variant was already circulating in the Netherlands, the RIVM public health institute said.                                                                                                                                                         It wouldn't surprise me if its already in the U.S.  It just hasn't pop'd its ugly head up yet.

Within months, however, Delta spread far more quickly than any of its predecessors.

"So the question, really, is how transmissible Omicron is relative to Delta. That's the major, major, major thing that we need to know," said John Moore, a professor of microbiology and immunology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.

It is also likely to be one of the last to be answered, experts said. South African officials raised the alarm about Omicron after identifying just dozens of cases of the variant.

Scientists will be closely watching whether cases caused by Omicron reported on public databases start to supplant those caused by Delta. That could take three to six weeks, depending on how fast the variant moves, experts said.

Other information should come more quickly. Within two weeks, "we'll get a better handle on the severity of the illness," said Dr Peter Hotez, a vaccine expert and professor of molecular virology and microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine. "We're hearing different reports - some saying it's a very mild disease and others (reporting) some severe cases in South African hospitals."

This is a conspiracy theory.  Bill Gates predicted there would be *a* pandemic coming and that the world would be unprepared, which was a surefire bet because there have been pandemics every 50-100 years throughout human history.  It doesn't take a Bill Gates to see it...but it does take someone more discerning than the people that believe that video wink.png.

That video is strike one.  Read the posting guidelines on page 1.  Looking forward to your next post being linked and from a reliable source...

P.S.  You know who streams video from their cars?  People whose families are sick of hearing their BS wink.png...

This is already happening with communities of unvaccinated/uneducated populations.  People that want the restrictions gone are too myopic to see that they are perpetuating the whole thing.

That is a good hypothetical scenario DefenderPug2. However, what if each area shrugged off human nature and… Cooperated? (*insert human nature scream here*)

Also, has anyone here wore masks for so long they just don’t bother you anymore? Cuz I got to that point 1 1/2 years into the pandemic.

Within a similar time frame, researchers said they expect early answers on whether Omicron can evade protection from vaccines. Initial data will come from lab tests of blood samples from vaccinated people or lab animals, analyzing antibodies in the samples after exposure to the new variant.

"There are a lot of labs that are actively looking to make the Omicron virus and test its antibody sensitivity, and that is going to take a couple of weeks," Moore said.

David Ho, professor of microbiology and immunology at Columbia University in New York, believes Omicron will show a substantial degree of resistance, based on the location of its mutations in the virus's spike protein.

"The vaccine antibodies target three regions on the coronavirus spike, and Omicron has mutations in all three of those regions," Ho said. "We technical experts are much more worried than the public health experts because of what we know from the structural analysis" of Omicron.

In South 🌍  🇿🇦 Africa Omicron is having a ball spreading faster than seen before for other variants

Yes, a microbiologist I know is pretty worried about Omicron.  This is why everyone needs to be vaccinated...and if they won't do it voluntarily, it's reaching the point where stronger measures will be needed.  Denying medical claims for unvaccinated people that get Covid or have Covid-related medical problems would be a good start.  Continuing to keep enabling this behavior is like giving a 2nd donated liver to an alcoholic that refuses to stop drinking.

The longer the virus keeps running around, the chances for mutations just keep increasing.  This one hit the Powerball jackpot and got 3 for 3 on mutations.  It should never have had the chance.
