...and now we officially have all the crazies in one thread. Congrats.
Covid19 and chess around the World!

I am, aqe 79 and moved from the USA to Cebu in the Philippines. Philippines is a rather poor country. Many die because they cannot afford medicine or health care.
But everyone wears masks and takes other precautions. Philippines obviously could not afford to obtain all that was needed to fight COVID.
They do long lockups. I myself have been locked up in my apartment more than 7 months. Except in late My when I was very ill. I was taken buy ambulance to a good hospital about 40 miles away. Heck I was too sick to move and could barely breathe.
They determined I did not have COVID. I had pneumonia and other problems. They said I needed to be hospitalized But they could not take me as they were filled with COPVID. None of the other hospitals could take me for the same reason. The ambulance brought me back to my apartment and carried me inside. I still could not even move.
However the hospital gave me 4 prescriptions--=Also I had Cecil and Shiela and Rotchel living in my apartment and helping me. I survived.
BTW, I need to quote this for posterity.

Two UK healthcare workers with "a significant history of allergic reactions" had an allergic reaction to the Pfizer vaccine.

That's just people who know they might have an allergic reaction. That doesn't count the people that might not know. More importantly, I think, is the delayed reaction. A good friend of mine has a husband that didn't find out about the side effects from a vaccine until about 5 years later.
How long before we see one of those ambulance chasing commercials that start out "did you or someone you know ever take the vaccine for covid 19? If so, you might have a case. Call our law offices at..."

What I saw on the news last night that it was 3 out of thousands had an allergic reaction, you may have better odds of winning the lottery than getting sick from the vaccine. Personally, I'll take the chance when it is available for me, but right now in my state of CT they are only planning to give it to health care workers and nursing home residents. The general population is already getting it in other countries, what gives? Thought Pzifer was a U.S. Company.

Currently the rate of allergic reaction is very low, you are right. But what I was wondering about is the delayed effect. The delayed effect on veterans wasn't 5 months. It was 5 years. About who gets the vaccine first, I would imagine there is going to be some very strong opinions on who gets it, why they get it, etc. People can act very unpredictably when they feel someone else is getting what they feel should be theirs.

It is always the wealthy will get it first....
Highly likely. It's going to be interesting to see how that plays out.

Some sobering actual numbers. This thread can use some ...
https://news.yahoo.com/coronavirus-pandemic-most-new-covid-cases-worldwide-cdc-195412834.html
These US numbers are coming from the CDC, if you are going to dispute them.
The US, per capita, is seeing the virus spread at a rate more than 50% faster the next nearest countries right now. Since a little more than 8 months ago, the death toll in the US is 300K. It is forecast to be another 200,000 in a much shorter timeframe. The US, as of this week onward, will be losing more people per day to Covid than 9/11. Yet, not a single mention of this surge on Fox News, for example. Not a single reference to breaking 3,000/day, or even to other news outlet' stories about it. Mum's the word. It's not happening.
About 10 million people flew Thanksgiving week, and people are not following measures for Xmas, either, so...this is just going to get worse before it gets better. But hey, let's keep the already over and done election news at the top . Because one person's hurt ego is more important than 3,000 people a day....right?
The entire country is acting like a stereotypical dysfunctional family with an alcoholism problem that nobody talks about, just living day by day in complete denial.

I mean I'm gonna wait until I see the results to see if its 100% safe. Like waiting for the vaccine to be used on people with certain conditions that makes them more vulnerable to the virus. Until then I can't see myself getting vaccinated.

If the vaccine is FDA approved, and has gone through clinical trials, it is safe by definition, it has already been tested on thousands of people, and approved by the leading scientists in the field.

The order for receiving the vaccine in The White House should be :Most Responsible first - so could the pardoned turkey please step forward.

That seems reasonable. Even some people who want it wont be eligible until a year from now. Right now the vaccine cannot be used on children, because that takes either a different vaccine, or different testing. They are now saying masks will be required all of 2021 because children will be last. Sometime next fall. My mother in law should probably be the first to take it, because of her age and condition. But for me, I'm going to wait at least a year. Probably two. But who knows, maybe by then it will have mutated to something totally different. Still a long way to go.

If I were a little younger I would probably wait too. It is possible that 5 years from now you may hear on TV, "If you were injured by the COVID vaccine, please call this number....".

1st give the politicians the vaccine.
If it works then it is safe for the public to use, if not the country is safe from them.

It is individual's choice to get vaccinated (particularly this Covid vaccine) but it is a good option to follow the above rule (lol)

Just think the covid vaccine is dead covid cells (?) So get vaccinated and get covid
The vaccines currently being developed by Pfizer and Moderna use a new vaccine formula with Messenger RNA (mRNA) to introduce immunity in the human body.
They are not like the traditional vaccines for flu which use partially dead organisms to induce immunity.

How very, very interesting. I just might wait a little longer than 2 years.
