Though depression and grief share some features, depression is different from grief felt after losing a loved one or sadness felt after a traumatic life event. Depression usually involves self-loathing or a loss of self-esteem, while grief typically does not.

In grief, positive emotions and happy memories of the deceased typically accompany feelings of emotional pain. In major depressive disorder, the feelings of sadness are constant.

People experience depression in different ways. It may interfere with your daily work, resulting in lost time and lower productivity. It can also influence relationships and some chronic health conditions.

Sometimes spotting one’s own depression is hard sometimes.

It’s important to realize that feeling down at times is a normal part of life. Sad and upsetting events happen to everyone. But if you’re feeling down or hopeless on a regular basis, you could be dealing with depression.

Depression is considered a serious medical condition that can get worse without proper treatment.

These last two posts by S_M are spot on and reinforce an important point I made earlier. Feelings of grief and sadness are one thing. An appropriate off topic discussion. It is very important to understand Depression is a clinical condition. If true feelings of depression are being experienced- appropriate professional help should be sought. It is a mental condition that needs treating by qualified, certified professionals in the medical field. Any persons here should not be placing themselves in a position to offer any advice, no matter the well intentioned, to anyone suffering from Depression.

Why would you ever get depression?

MirageFree

When something fails to meet your expectations. And that’s why I’ve stopped expecting.

You find a reason to keep striving

thats the most difficult challenge not anyone especially those with bipolar and severe depression can be able to just find motivation from the gecko. of course i understand what you saying but i just dont know how to find that motivation if i were that person cause i dont really know what i am doing anymore now. so if i were that person i would just feel like i dont really have any meaning or purpose in my life except to just live it and hopefully try

Any tips to help with panick attacks. Might be slightly off topic to the conversation but I’d like some help in that aspect.

DefenderPug2

Yeah but it’s……in real life….and I get them time to time when people argue, mostly when my parents do, and other times I don’t know why.
