looks ugly
Design of Archbishop piece
A
I've never played capablanca chess but I've read about it and would love to learn. And I think this piece looks cool. B)
Thanks for your input, ijgeoffrey.
Actually, do you think the double-platform is too much? They say simpler looks better, and I'm thinking currently that the dp might be excess and ruining the look of the mitre head. What do you think?
A single platform might be better, but I think to me it depends on what your other pieces look like--namely, the queen, bishop, King, and chancellor. I don't think it looks bad this way for sure. But it's difficult for me to judge a piece design when not compared with others in the set.
That is a good point.
This is part of Amritsar Ivory Work's "Camelot Luxury Artisan" Chess set. The Archbishop and Chancellor do not originally belong to this set; I commissioned the head woodsman to also include these pieces. I rendered their designs using Anim8or.

(chess.com's forum typbox scaled the first pic down to fit the parameters of the form. Opening it in a new window will display its better bigger size.)
And yes, we can try inverting the dp. Hold on as I render....

with double platform inverted: (Image that used to be here - edited out)
No double platform: (Image that used to be here - edited out)
Comparing to your set (and it's a very nice set btw :) ), I think the DP might be a bit much. A small SP might look really good though.
Well, let's compare: (Images that used to be here - edited out)

Personally, I really like that last one you posted. It's not too prominent but enough to be interesting to the eye. :)
Great! Thanks for your contribution, ijgeoffrey.
I think I like the last one,too.
I suppose that a double-platoform (what's more, one that's too big) makes it sort of look like a clown costume. That's what I came to realize. xD
Now, what are we going to do with the Chancellor? Because IT has a double platform too.

The question for this thread has been resolved a few days ago, mostly thanks to the contribution of ijgeoffrey, which I own great grattitude to.
The images have been edited out, since there is not much reason to have lingering images of my blueprint design lying around.
Good day.
