Do you know what it is like to be ignored?

When I started otf, there were omens that displayed how my time would be wasted. In one of the very first threads I commented on, it died right away, even though it had 300 comments on it… Thinking about it, I should have realised that this signified something. But I stayed. My first thread I ever made had almost no comments. I expected that.
A little after, my time started to improve. I got my first 50 comment thread. Sure, I had to bump it, but it worked out. People seemed interested. Until it died. I was getting happier, things seemed to be up. My amas where a big ignored.
Soon, I got my first 100 comment thread, which ironically was something about otf being quiet (so basically a spam thread). I genuinely laughed that such a thread with 0 effort put in me got 100. “It’s gonna be easy to get more” I said. Life went on.
It was not easy, my 3 amas all died, and none of my threads lived. I did however get an 80 comment thread, an ingenious idea to create a rewind thread. I put a few events in it, it was pretty cool.
Nothing. No threads, a lot of breaks, a lot of leaving, I was not here. I started adding my name after threads, so people could find them easier.
Still nothing. All of my threads had few comments and required bumping, although a few people seemed happy to comment on them.
“My last thread” I thought, as I put hours of effort into the history thread. As I went to sleep, the 3 comments, 2 of them mine, blared in my vision. “So I was still ignored” I thought, and knew that soon I would leave.
25 comments! Finally, it seemed that after hours of effort, a thread I have finally started to receive attention. Maybe only because rage raged. A lot of people seemed happy to correct me, it was nice.
It continued, I got to 100 I was happy. And then I saw the threads getting 2-300 comments. Threads like THE SCREAMING FORUM, it all leapt into my vision tearing at my heart. I had been here for a year, and prople here who have been here only for a few days getting the same amount of comments in my threads combined.
I had enough, I started a test, seeing if I could gain this popularity with a new account. And I did, my first thread, a typical hi thread received attention.
And now, I have finally given up. 10 hours put into a thread, for 100 comments, a whole year for less than 300. I have earned nothing, but a few friends. Maybe the treasure was the very few friends I made along the way.
So here they are: Sawdof, Basix, BenTD6, ChimchurriCat, WndrU, Devin, Atti, Saf. These people have communicated, and accepted me. I thank them. They paid some attention to me, and I take it.
Thanks for anyone who ever commented on my threads… you helped me stay for as long as I did. Bye - Balviboy
Your highest was 107. My highest, taking away game threads, is 80.

Balvi you’re not the only one in the world that gets ignored. Just know that maybe you hold value somewhere else.

This is the reason I left otf, and until this is stopped, I ain’t coming back, so adios until I get frustrated at another thread like it

I’m sorry you didn’t receive enough attention. I’ll always remember you as a legend. Sorry to hear you’re leaving

thoughtful topics always get few responses as they require effort. Always been this way.
The only difference now is that low effort topics go viral owing to social media and lower barriers to participation. Spam rules as there are no barriers anymore.
Knowing this it might be better to stick to smaller clubs where signal does not get drowned out by noise.
Have a good life balviboy. These clicks mean nothing in the real world.
Balviboy topics are more thoughtful than many others. Not everyone is willing to put in the effort and it is their loss.
Please don't judge yourself by the number of comments a topic may create... it is a reflection of others, and not you. I liked your history thread (and others)... it helped me find some comments that really made me laugh.
Do what you enjoy. Try not to have expectations. And have fun in whatever you do.
Another gem of wisdom by our favorite mod, atti.
