Does THC improve thinking capabilities playing chess?

I know  from first-hand experience- smoking weed during a chess game makes you FEEL  that you're smarter and have more insight.  In reality, that feeling is just the chemical buzzing around in your brain. Smoking weed during a chess, at least for me, causes me to miss things that I wouldn't have if not toasted.

Depending on the dosage of thc that is a possibility...Just like comparing beer/wine alcohol content to the proofs of hard liquor...Theres no need to be toasted to play chess for that slight advantage of thinking capabilities...I would fall asleep if I am too high...

You may be right but it would be a bad thing. Long term, it causes damage to the brain. It's also definitely addictive.

However, the pro-cannabis lobby never admits that negatives exist. They're conning everybody.

Marijuana doesn't cause brain damage.  Alcohol does.

A good document that was published almost 20 years ago and still there are those who believe in the "reefer madness" film that our government forced us to watch in high school 5 decades ago....That document is somewhat outdated now when edibles are replacing pot smoking...

Don't smoke anything. This is not to say THC cannot be used. Incomplete combustion invariably produces cancer causing chemicals. You wouldn't want to completely combust THC, lol.

I agree including all the toxic smoke we have been inhaling during the California wildfires....Use edibles to enhance the good feelings of yourself and others...There is just too much hatred around the world...

I don't know how THC affects chess play, but I wouldn't have any problem with playing someone high on the stuff.

I'd be more concerned about avoiding the guy on the road driving home after the tournament...

I would not recommend driving high...A while back my gf shared a joint during lunch break at work...Needless to say driving home a few hours later was an adventure...endanger myself and others on the road...Never again...Therefore a relaxing environment at home playing chess with friends or over the internet would be reasonable...

I suspect you are right and what you feel might not be objective reality.  Your game becomes like a piece of music.  When you are high it seems like the greatest song you ever heard, even though it's the same old song you never thought was that good while straight.

Playing mellowed out for the first time made me realize just how good the game is. I love this game to death bullet.png

It actually came off rather innovative.

I also liked the one where Friday was off for the day and trying to relax at Gannon's house...and he wasn't too great at it.  It kinda made fun of Joe's By The Book persona.

"just the facts ma'am"...Jack Webb's stone faced smileless attitude towards others that made Dragnet popular and hilarious...That one episode where he busted a dude in the school hallway after he saw him with some weed in the classroom was a classic...

When I abstain from altering my thinking capabilities playing chess I seem to be less focused...prone to make mistakes...

And this kind of brainwashing, where people who claim to know better deliberately ignore arguments and evidence, tends to be one outcome of brain-damage, although of course, ignorance and stupidity are universal, where a decision has been taken never ever to believe or accept emerging evidence, and not limited to damaged brains. I am saying this because if it saves just one person from self-harm, then it's worthwhile. There's nothing wrong with "experimenting" with these things but believing people who hide the truth is very dangerous. I simply know much better than these people. I have been around more, done more and seen more.

I have run various groups on Facebook in the past. One of them was a big philosophy group. We decided to have a big debate about the medical and non-medical uses of cannabis. After about ten days, the group started to be invaded by people on the pro-pot side. It seemed they didn't distinguish between medical and fun use of these things so they started to spoil the debate pretty quickly, but the crunch came when it was obvious that they were denying any possibility that cannabis can cause physical or mental harm. A lot of them came into the group and they became very hostile and acted very aggressively. It was absolutely obvious that they had something in common. I thought that their minds had already been damaged and they couldn't control their thoughts or emotions. In the end I had to tell them all to get lost.

We're talking about very aggressive trolling, attacking group members for politely expressing opinions, attacks on the person, whatever the Latin is for that and so forth. So yes, get the hell out. I stopped giving warnings as a result of that episode. If someone went past certain limits they were out there and then. That was back when Facebook was fun. Now it's for keeping in touch with people occasionally.

Another steaming pile of BS that Optimissed is known for.  I provided a scientific citation from MIT to to refute your BS.  You provide nothing as usual. except your trademark pompous bloviating, and self proclaimed expertise.   Barf.

Considering the nature of the debate I'm sure there is some citation you could come up with to support your claim, but instead, claim OTHERS ignore evidence, and call OTHERS brain damaged, ignorant and stupid?  You are a pathetic joke!

Have you disproved any other Quantum theories lately?  (For those who don't know, that is another steaming pile of BS that Optimissed posted in the past, that he had proved a famous quantum physicist to be wrong!)  Haa haa haa haa!

"I simply know much better than these people. I have been around more, done more and seen more." You say?  Ha!  Around here you are known as a BSer, nothing more.  Provide some citation to back up your claims, because your feeling of self importance and self proclaimed knowledge and intelligence counts for nothing.
