Moi ? Enlighten anyone here ?
Perhaps you'll find answers around the corner, keep searching.
There was a time I worked as a day laborer. Showed up each morning and prayed to be sent out on a job, to be paid at the end of the day minimum wage. The only job I've ever walked away from , declined to do was in New Orleans. Assigned to the boat yards. A humongous oil tanker was docked. Job was scrubbing the empty holding tanks by hand. One guy at the bottom, holding the ladder, one guy at the top doing the same. 3rd guy 1/2 up the 200foot ladder doing the scrubbing. Positions rotated each hour. End of day $40 Cash. Yea, right. I said to the fellow wino next to me as the job was being described - I'll be walking back to the shelter !
What are you even talking about?
Randomness ... as observed and measured in the macro or micro.
"so. roulette....if the number 31 hasnt come up in 300 spins, then what would compel u to play it on the next spin ? how do u make the case ?"
thats sound a lot like the 'gambler fallacy'. i.e. when you have a repeating random and you have to make choices on a one by one case, you should ignore previous results. (assuming the roulette dont has bias)
for example, this is different from black jack randomness, which has a limited amount of cards and each hand 'influence' the next one, and previous results should be considered.
but i really know very little about roulette's, check for yourself and see if this apply...

"Maybe yes, maybe no. exactly? we dont know : )
Sounds random to me !"
lol. yes, i agree. ..by elroch definition(lack of knowledge). but need to be careful when applying this, because it only apply to an observer, and ignore the event itself. hope that i make some sense : )
Amalia: "In the unlikely and near impossible scenario where you're able to control every natural part of the universe you could recreate a event where the result of the action would be obvious."
you nicely captured the essence of this topic... "Does True Randomness Actually Exist?"
unfortunately, science cant objectively answer this question, and dont let people trick you for thinking otherwise. (i've been arguing about it here for quit a bit)
i agree with you, if you look at dice rolls and roulette, its all pretty much comes down to pseudo random (objects obeying the laws of physics).
even if you look at quantum mechanics, which many people believe to has true randomness inherent to it.. don't let them fool you, because it just a belief.
the existence of true randomness is still an open question, which physics fail to answer. like the ol' saying...
Maybe yes, maybe no. exactly? we dont know : )
As I have somewhat stated. In theory, it doesn't but in a practical view a outcome can be "chaotic". But not truly random. Anyhow, it will take much for me to change my stand point but i'm open for new ideas.
I like how you mentioned Quantum Mechanics. Just took a "quiz" or a "exam" (whatever what they are called) in it. It's a pretty neat thing. To lazy to bring it up at this very moment.
im not sure what you mean by "chaotic" but i think that you mean "truly random".
usually when saying "chaotic" it mean a small change that develop exponentially onto a large change. like in meteorology (weather systems) or the famous butterfly effect.
I mentioned QM because its the only place i can think of that true randomness may happen (but we don't really know)
Oh, alright. I will later (when I have more time) explain what I meant then. Other than that. As I have stated before, nothing is theoretical random. We just lack the power or sometimes understanding to know the outcome. Just with quantum mechanics. Where we just lack the skill to predict the position of a electron.
I will. I'm in class at the moment. When I get home I can try to explain how I think. But it somewhat correlates to the longer post I have been writing here
i think that in QM it gets a little more involved that that, and the only place i can think of true random is the wave function collapse. but we dont know if it really collapse, just one interpretation.
ok thanks.
lol. yes king, it has something to do with chickening too.. but i would say only 1/2 chicken. like a peruvian bbq : )
I mean.. the whole idea was to experience the freedom of flying, and being strap like that? didnt seem so cool. like the difference between riding a bike, or taking the rear seat.
i was thinking that its going to be a short class and then be on my way flying on my own. guess i just didnt think it thru : )
im looking at it now and its... hmm... complex : ) but when i think of true random, it must be an event that is.. 'without a cause' ? .. that probably a bad way to put it, but is the best i can think of right now
A coin flip, or moreso, a die rolling out #'s, is pretty simple. things get more interesting with 38 #'s like roulette. or let alone the powerball.
some numbers will just go away for a long-long time. and then the opposite happens. numbers will appear and reappear and just keep coming up blowing up any ideas about using math rationale in the short term. And casinos know this. and trust me. they're a for-profit group and they've looked into this quite helladeeply (to be conservative !). so wut do they do ?....they limit ppl's hi-size bets so u dont work them in like 3 spins. its their only protection against getting smoked....lol !
Physicists like to think that all you have to say, these are the conditions, now what happens next? Richard P. Feynman
Where chaos begins, classical science stops. - James Gleick Author of CHAOS Making a New Science
In it he asks:
In a universe ruled by entropy, drawing inexorably toward greater and greater disorder, how does order arise?
For the original explorers of Chaos, a starting point was the Butterfly Effect.
Rather basic stuff Amelia. I think topic has advanced.
Logic is tested where a paradox exists.
Seemingly logical thought becomes refuted.
What is a depiction of reality ?
What are you talking about? The Monty Hall problem?
If so. Yeah, it's pretty simple. All though, I do not understand why you brought it up. You'll need to enlighten me on that part.
