Earth Day

Makes me remember my childhood with snowflake melting on my nose...those days long gone....love the poem!

The one exception is Western Europe, which has – until the weekend when temperatures plunged to as low as -10C in some places – been basking in unseasonably warm weather. The UK has reported one of its warmest winters on record.

Almost Earth Day. Hopefully many of us will walk or bike instead of taking the car, and not just on Earth Day itself, but rather every day.

wow this is truely a work of art i must say after i read it a few times i understand your thoughts i know your book will be fantastic
For Europe, global warming is going to make the climate colder. The Gulf Stream is a major heater for us. When the ice melts in north pole and santa is drowning, the cold water cools of the Stream and that's going to make the climate much colder. I think it's the same with other places too. Warm streams turn into cold ones and that affects the climate.
People usually get confused when they say global warming... it should be called THE DOOMSDAY TIMER

Moreover, consider the harm resulting in the two types of error (if you are statistically inclined, then consider them the Type I and Type II errors, respectively) of 1) rejecting a true null hypothesis (that there is no global warming) and 2) accepting that there is no global warming if there actually is. If we believe that there is global warming, then what are we asked to do about it? Well, pollute less. Bike instead of taking the car. This is good advice regardless of whether or not there truly is global warming. No harm done by a Type I error. For all intents and purposes, no error at all.
And a Type II error? Well, here we continue to drive the SUV half a block instead of walking to the bus stop, keep the factories polluting the environment, and in general just continue to show a complete lack of regard for Mother Earth and her inhabitants. Even without global warming, this still spells doomsday.
Well, today is Earth Day, so I figured I'd post this poem I wrote about global warming. I am not a poet, I have never before written (or even read) a poem, and I will almost certainly never write another one either, so please do not be too harsh in your judgement of it. With that caveat, I offer:
Global Warming
And here in the museum you’ll find
This thing we call a coat.
Coats are obsolete today,
As surely you will note.
There was a time when it got cold,
Years ago, the days of old.
But now the sun has broken through.
There’s nothing left for us to do,
But reminisce about the days,
When ovens still were used for blaze.
No more are there any stoves,
Yet still we cook our garlic cloves.
Simply place them in the street,
And let them soak up all the heat.
I just cooked a stroganoff,
But I can’t turn the oven off.
Eternal sauna is too much,
The ground is way too hot to touch.
The polar caps now H2O.
No place left for us to go.
So hurry now and don’t be late.
I fear the bus just will not wait.
Make sure all your bags are packed.
No way we are coming back.
We had our chance to keep this place,
But now must fly to outer space.
I’m sorry if I made a fuss,
But now we ride the Pluto Bus.
