Is that a warning, or a threat? You should know by now I don't give in to threats. Either way, I have quoted it now so it cannot be removed or changed.
it's a promise, you and your virtual cornish bird. you won't know what's hit you, and you have no idea what i'm going to do, lol
I can hardly wait.
you won't have to wait too long. there's already quite alot of derogatory stuff posted in your unfinished games comment boxes. pity you can't see it

No, but the mods will when those games are finished. Then you'll be having a wee break from the site, so I hope you have plenty of methodone to keep you company!

Mr Chair, I think you are presenting two conflicting stories here:
1) You do not like that the user posted pictures which you believe are prettier than she really is (similar to users who post pictures of themselves 5, 10 or 20 years younger).
2) You do not like that the copyright of Ms Eke De Haan has been violated. (I think is is pretty clear that the user in question did not try to impersonate Ms Eke De Haan and did not use her name, etc?)
If your primary concern is 2) and I think you should remove all posts of Ms Eke De Haan's pictures from this blog (or contact her and obtain permissions to post them)? It appears at present that you are the only one posting these copyright protected images?

You really are determined to have those pictures taken down, aren't you? There is no "conflict" here, so don't try to create one. Why don't you just contact Ms De Haan and direct her to this thread, to see what has been going on? If she asks me to remove her photos, I will do so. But I will make damn sure she knows that your friend has been using them as bait on this site for the past year or more, and would still be doing so if she had not been found out. And that you, and others like you, have been trying every tactic you can think of to have this matter covered up.

Do you still think you are the only one who knew? Do you not think others know her in real life, know to Google Image photo avatars or assumed because they are “too professional looking” (post #2)? Or suspected, but did not care?
You are the one creating "conflicts" in terms of Ms De Haan. It appears, neither of us knows whether Ms De Haan likes that her pictures be used on chess.com (say, for recognition or vanity), is indifferent or wish to fiercely protect her copyright. So why not just leave her out of it? Esp. if you feel it is your right to post her images here without asking for permission from the copyright holder.
Just tell us, of all the many here who use photos not of themselves or from 5, 10, 20 years younger, why did you single out this user for attack? Why all the baseless accusations, negativity, name calling, insults, hate, etc which goes far beyound the act of using these photos?
Or do you really not know how widespread the practice is?

Actually using pics of another person who is not worlwide famous as if they were ours doesn't seem very decent IMHO. I wouldn't feel very concerned since no real harm is done, probably my kids will suffer more when they discover the Three Wise Men are not real. But still...

Yes, I do know that this practice goes on, and that this site is riddled with it. But that does not mean that I have to site quietly by and let others carry on with their deceptions. We form our judgements about people we meet online based on what is often very limited information, and when that person chooses to mislead us about themselves we should ask why they would try to do that. When that person is an established member of a chess site, running several teams and therefore in a position of trust and responsibility, it begs the question of what exactly are they trying to achieve with this?
The answer to that may be quite innocuous, and at worst exposing them should lead to no more than some temporary embarrassment for that member and the people who were fooled. In that case, they could simply own up, apologise to everyone affected, and take the consequences. But the response to this disclosure demonstrates that both the member in question and some of her friends think that this is a lot more serious that that. They have attempted to have this thread silenced from the beginning, and are very keen to cover up something that you now insist is really no big deal. That in itself looks very suspicious, and I will not be bullied or persuaded into be a party to a cover-up.

Let me suggest something, if we wish to take a herioc stand against people who use photos prettier than themselves whether other's or from when they we much younger, start a new blog and disucss it in general terms?
I have had enough with this blog full of name and shame... baseless accusations, negativity, name calling, insults, hate, etc which goes far beyound the act of using these photos?
Personally, I think such behaviour is much worse than use of whichever photos you may like.
....and please, for next prety picture you see, try not to be shocked if is not depicting the user (or at least not how she looks currently)...
Maybe start judging people more by their actions and posts instead of the avatars they use?

If someone wishes to post any photo in the avatar I have no issue with this. But when they use the picture to deceive others into thinking this is what they look like, in order to gain adulation and trophies or using a chess engine to enhance their chess rating, you will find me right there!

You can not name suspected engine users anywhere on Chess.com. They take it seriously and you could be muted for doing that. Please follow the procedure and submit a ticket to support to report them in cheating :) Thanks

I am well aware that a lot of the pics used on this site, and online in general, are not genuine. That is not a "shock" to me. But it is becoming very obvious that your real motive in coming here is not to discuss this issue in general, but rather to to try to cover up the activities of your friend. This has backfired somewhat, as the thread now has attracted far more views than it otherwise might have done, and now thanks to your forcing the issue of suspected cheating, she will be investigated by the site. Tell me, if it transpires that she was cheating, will you still be willing to come here to defend her? Engine use also seems to be rife on the site, so is that also something that we should not make a fuss about, at least when it is being done by one of our friends?
Hi, Babs. I think that's meant to be you. Sammi frae Pitlochry is trying a bit of intimidation, it should be embarrassing for her when she sobers up.
lol
