Farewell to The Boss.

I don't know how many Yankee fans are on this site, but I have been a lifelong fan since 5 years of age, and this morning, the New York Yankee family has truly lost a legend. George Steinbrenner III, proud owner, has passed away at the age of 80, a few days after losing Bob Sheppard, also known as the "Voice of God," the well loved PA announcer at the Stadium. May prayers and wishes go out to the Steinbrenner family as well as the Yankees. We'll miss you Boss. Cry

Yes, today was a sad day for the Yankees and all things related. Steinbrenner grew a lot over the years, starting out as a major control freak and not trusting the people who worked for him to know their jobs, to a more father-like figure who learned how to step back and reign rather than dictate. It's definitely a loss and I can only wonder how this will affect the players and the franchise in general. I'm just glad the timing worked out that he passed while on the All-Star break so the players and family could hopefully, more comfortably deal with the funeral arrangements. :(
