I dislike Pikachu because he keeps saying his own name, or fragments thereof, over and over all the time. Get some new material, Pikachu!

My favorite is the Magikarp. At low levels, it is a stupid, helpless fish, but eventually it becomes the most powerful water monster. It’s an homage to a legend of a fish who tries so hard to swim up a waterfall that it becomes a dragon.

Pokemon changed his cry in generation 8 to how it was in generation 1, so that doesn't hold up in the new games

no, in the anime some Pokemon do (Riolu, Scyther, ect.) But some do not (Suicune, Magikarp, ect.) None of them say their names in the games, though. Or maybe Pidgey says it really really fast.
